Some of the White people suffering more than any other white people in the U.S.
So, I think one could say that this was a vote of complete desperation. This might be important to realize here. It's not that they were 100% at expecting Trump could solve their problems, it's just that Republicans and Democrats had already failed them and their families for at least the last 20 years or more already. So, for them Trump was their last hope for a good job that wouldn't be shipped overseas. This might be important to realize around the world.
These people who voted for Trump might see most Democrats as elitists who have been to college and succeeded in life. But often, the people who voted for Trump might not have even finished High School let alone college. So, this is how maybe to see this, a vote of desperation of families without jobs in various places around the country and scared and afraid for their futures.
Were they right? Will Trump save them? I personally don't think so but it is possible he will rebuild our infrastructure and if he succeeds in this he will save millions of American lives who won't be ended this century by collapsing bridges from rust and neglect, that wouldn't die from exploding gas mains over 50 years old, that wouldn't die from buildings not retrofitted for earthquakes, from roads crumbling beneath them as they drive over them etc. Our infrastructure hasn't been rebuilt really since the 1950s and 1960s when Eisenhower built it up to what it is now just after world war II.
