No one ever thought that water from garden hoses was unregulated and potentially unsafe. This was totally normal. The hose was a fixture of summertime fun, with kids running in and out of sprinklers.
end quote from:
I was a toehead like this child under 3 or 4 years old and I actually have pictures that pretty much look almost exactly like this now taken in Seattle Washington during the summer.
Now, we all know since hoses are mostly made in places like China that hose water
isn't safe for people or animals to drink because of the lead and other poisons used
to make them. Also, some outside water is not regular water but recycled water only
to be used outside these days. I remember using a slip and slide a lot in the summer
with friends to slide on plastic sheets across lawns for hours until we were all very
sunburned then in Southern California from about 1956 until I was about 10 or 12 or so
and we moved onto other more teenage things to do. (like going surfing at Huntington
Beach) with over 10 foot long longboards for surfing.
