Because people who are retired or who work from home might be too afraid to venture outside their houses and to get exercise. Because of this more and more people are having strokes and heart attacks that are either fatal or maiming in that people can't walk or talk anymore. There are at least 2 people this has happened to in the western states that my wife and I know that this has happened to since September.
So, it isn't just Coronavirus that is killing people it is also the Fear of coronavirus that is also killing people when they don't get enough exercise. And I could see how in big cities especially where people live where it isn't safe it might be important to get an exercycle stationary bicycle or a Treadmill to work out on so you don't die of a heart attack or stroke. Even I have a treadmill for when it's raining or I'm not feeling up to going out that day but then my dog is upset because she needs exercise every day.
So, one way not to die of a heart attack or stroke is to get a dog that absolutely needs exercise every single day if that helps you and makes you go out with your dog and keeps you alive. More people than ever got dogs this year by the way because they help people in so many ways. I'm not sure what my wife and I would have done without our blue merle corgi puppy we got about a year ago now who is presently about 14 months old and who loves to sleep under our bed at night to be near us. She also plays doggie soccer with me out on the deck every day too and accompanies me to the beach many days a week too so she exercises me in these ways too.
For doggie soccer we use about 4 to 5 balls that she can mouth and get a grip on with her teeth like
these: (you can get these rubber plastic balls various sizes that suit your dog.) the ones I like to use with her are 6 inch diameter and 8 or 10 inch in diameter balls on our deck. I believe she thinks they are puppies that she wants to stay in one place and I keep kicking them and she tries to stop me from kicking them around. But, she sort of lives to play this game and will wait hours some times so I will come and spend another 5 or 10 minutes playing doggie soccer with her which is also good exercise for me.
However, we started doing this when she was a puppy so for older dogs this might not work because they
get set in their ways by about 3 to 4 years old.
