A Once-Impressive Facade, Now Crumbling

A combination of environmental exposure and long-term neglect has left the once-impressive Victorian home in a serious state of decay. Here, we see the front of the main farmhouse, which was built in 1860. The roof is sagging badly and one of the home’s columns now lies on the ground.

front of house is crumbling

In looking through the photos it reminded me of Grandmothers and grandfathers of mine who were born between the 1870s and 1888. My last Grandmother to pass away was in 1978 when she was 90 years old and my mother (her daughter) and my mother's two sisters each passed away at age 90 also which I found to be interesting too.

People were Very different than now that were born in the 1800s. There are so many differences that they are too numerous to mention but their courage and determination to go on no matter what happened was what they all shared. You had to be very very strong to make it through the 1800s and the early 1900s especially until the 1950s was the first real time anyone caught a break from all of the insanity of their times.

And even then we all had to worry about getting nuked by hydrogen bombs even in the 1950s which caused so many to commit suicide or self destruct in various ways even then.

So, likely the easiest time to be alive has been 1950 to 2000 in the last 200 years.

The 2nd easiest time to be alive likely was from 2008 to 2016 as well.

It's pretty much been hell again since 2017 ongoing and presently likely getting worse because of coronavirus worldwide and Global Climate change.

I think the real golden age of the last 200 years likely was 1950 to 2000.
