Writing

Some of this might be obvious to some people but it is easy to get writer's block if you try to be too organized.

For the type of writing I love to do I like Free Association. If I'm going to write something longer I usually know it's coming through the previous week or two before. It's always like "A Message from God" or something like that. So, like I said I know when something amazing is going to come through me sort of in the same way I know what's going to happen in the future sometimes whether it's a big Earthquake or whatever it might be.

But, for the kind of writing I do mostly I have to be prepared to be a "Channel" for information to come through. So, mostly it's about being in the right frame of mind so good stuff can come through me, especially when I'm writing 3000 to 10,000 words or more. The longer what you are writing the more prepared you have to be. For me, it's sort of how you might prepare for a weekend with a lover when you are young before you get married or have children. It's a state of mind where you are going to listen to them regarding their problems and to comfort them as they are comforting you and you change both your worlds forever from this time you spend together whether you stay together or not.

Then after I write something longer it becomes often like one of my children which is both good and bad because I have trouble editing what I have written because it is like harming one of my children when I do. So, the rough draft has all the power and insight in it and often when I try to edit something like this often I feel I have diminished what I have written by editing it at all beyond typos.

So, even though writing you might do in say in ratio 1 hour the actual editing of that one hour of typing on your keyboard or writing by hand or on a typewriter or however you like to do it might be accompanied by 5, 10 or 100 hours of editing to get something you want to publish actually. However, most of the time I don't do this because I don't want to lose the beautiful moments of writing what was written to begin with. However, if I was writing for money I might have to prostitute my writings by editing them. But, luckily I don't have to do that.

By God's Grace
