Though San Francisco is very much of an international City (see China Town and Japan Town) and other groups from around the world that live there, it is also a much more educated city than most around the world so you have a lot more medical science oriented people who trust the science more than other places too.
So, the world should be watching San Francisco likely more than any other city right now to see if it can actually get to herd immunity before any other city does worldwide.
Though the variants from South America and India are ravaging those places like never before it is possible that we won't see that again in places like San Francisco unless the variants aren't suppressed by the Vaccines.
If that happens boosters will have to be created if they can be to deal with that situation ongoing worldwide.
