The main problem I would say in India is the complete lack of any education in up to 60% of the populace. So, when something like this happens there is no critical thinking or evidence based reality to shore up people in these kinds of times. So, when ignorance rules hysteria is the only outlet many people are going to have as their relatives die one by one. If they weren't wearing masks to begin with (maybe because it's going to be very hot most places in India at least until the fall) then this is just going to spread even more during the summers when it might be too hot to wear a mask without passing out.
If you have ever been to India like I have what is happening would make more sense to you but it would be no less horrific than for people who haven't been there who don't fully understand the problem that India now faces.
The fact that India is on the border of China likely means that the lower classes in China might also be exposed to the new extreme variants found in India too. In bigger cities in China there will be draconian methods used to stop the spread but in more rural areas of China where most are uneducated almost anything can and will happen now as well as in India.
Is it possible that the governments of India and China could collapse because of coronavirus eventually?
I think it is unlikely but thousands might die in riots various places before this present wave is over in Asia. However, it is also possible that this wave will continue to the fall where it likely would get worse too there throughout the winter like it did here last winter.
