Compassion for yourself and others

Compassion and being practical about compassion is one of the hardest things any of us have to do in life.

There is what we would like to do through compassion and then there is what is practical to do through compassion.

The problem is that in younger people idiot compassion gets a whole lot of young people killed in their teens and 20s. I almost died from my compassion for other people especially in my teens and 20s trying to help friends when it wasn't practical or adult to help them. But, still I tried to keep my friends alive and sometimes I succeeded and sometimes I didn't.

However, over time, hopefully, we gain wisdom and begin to realize that we can save some people and other people we love are likely just going to self destruct sooner or later and we have to step back and watch them die eventually. You just cannot save everyone.

Like for example, how crazy is it to think you can stay alive on the outside of an airplane? I know some people might not understand the science or the physics of that but people were falling off the airplane in Kabul as it took off? There's no way you could likely save those people who were dying there because they were just too panicked to do anything but likely die in that situation.

And on one level you can understand why they would choose death to life with the Taliban. This actually makes sense if you have ever actually been to a third world nation where people like the Taliban actually live where they think like people did 1000 years ago basically.

So, there is idiot compassion that often gets people killed sooner or later.

And then there is Right mindful wise compassion that thinks things through and saves your life and the people's lives you are trying to save most of the time.

So, God Bless the people wise enough to help people so they actually survive whatever they are going through (at least for now).

By God's Grace
