Excessive Heat Warning goes into effect for much of Oregon
PORTLAND, Ore — An Excessive Heat Warning is now in effect across most of Oregon through Saturday.
The Pacific Northwest is expecting yet another heat wave this week, with daytime highs reaching the upper 90s on Wednesday. Due to some wildfire smoke drifting into our area, the air quality may be briefly affected. That will, however, hold temperatures just under 100 degrees for the Portland metro area.

Thursday and Friday, though, are expected to be the hottest days in the latest heat wave. While this bout of high temperatures isn't expected to break any records, like we saw in the deadly June heat wave, experts say there is still significant risk for heat-related illness.
Ahead of this week's heat, Oregon leaders have also declared a state of emergency so that state agencies can help local and tribal jurisdictions prepare and recover from its effects.
The advisory from the NWS says that Oregonians could see dangerously hot conditions in areas from Southwest Washington down to Lane County.

The weather pattern will improve and cool down beginning on Sunday as an onshore flow brings in cooler air off the ocean. By that time, daytime highs will drop to the low to mid 80s.
Experts still advise that you drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioning if possible and please be ready to check on vulnerable people, neighbors, pets and friends during this time.
