Problems may persist longer than some companies expect
But it's possible some companies and strategists are being too optimistic.
Profits could take a hit due to shipping delays. There are also legitimate worries that the problems will lead to higher prices for the foreseeable future — and that some consumers may delay purchases of non-essential items as a result.
What's more, the issue isn't just about shipping overseas goods to the United States. Domestic truckers may not have enough capacity to handle all the products that need to go from ports to warehouses and stores.

I think they are underestimating the problem with shippers across oceans. As long as ship mates on Merchant Marine vessels cannot come ashore in the U.S. why would you renew your contract another few months or year just to be forced to live on board a ship with nothing fun to do a year at a time?
So, there likely will be major losses of crew members for Container ships this time next year if the Covid wall prevents crew members from other countries coming ashore here on liberty.
Truckers worried about being underpaid while being exposed through constant travel to Covid is another problem that isn't being considered properly.
People are majorly changing careers now when they can to better paying better protected jobs or careers or starting their own businesses which make it more worthwhile to work at all. Dying for no good reason from Covid is changing the whole job market on earth. The other thing is not wanting to infect your whole family and friends with Covid because of a bad paying risky job is the other thing here worldwide now too.
