In lifeboat theory, the rich nations are the lifeboats and the poor nations the swimmers in the wide ocean: But if too many fight to get on the lifeboats everyone drowns!

 Hardin compared the lifeboat metaphor to the Spaceship Earth model of resource distribution, which he criticizes by asserting that a spaceship would be directed by a single leader which the Earth lacks. Hardin asserts that the spaceship model leads to the tragedy of the commons. In contrast, the lifeboat metaphor presents individual lifeboats as rich nations and the swimmers as poor nations.

So, the real chore of the human race this century is to save enough humans to survive into the next century. Otherwise, EVERYONE dies not just some this century.

When you see that Covid and Putin Attacking Ukraine are both about the scarcity of resources worldwide and people competing for resources it is easier to understand what is happening to mankind en masse. And it might be easier for some people in understanding this to survive this century better knowing all this.
