The problem as I see it was always this concept of conquering the wilderness. When you try to "Conquer" the Wilderness you begin to destroy it. Whereas often Native Americans tried not to have too many children because they knew the problem of Overpopulation because they were hunter gatherers and not usually farmers except for the Tribes that grew Corn by putting corn seeds in the Ground with a dead fish for fertilizer on the east coast.
So, there is something about people who have farmed for 25,000 years like our ancestors in Europe and North Africa where they feel the need to "Conquer" the wilderness which then leads to overpopulation like we have now all over the earth and to big huge wars like we appear to be entering into which looks a lot like "World War III" at this point which is being waged over resources just like many wars in the past.
But, what appears to be happening is while we fight over resources worldwide this also causes inflation to hit worldwide especially in regard to food and gas prices and car prices. So, in this sense war is also suicidal in a time of overpopulation because it leads to faster global climate changes.
So, war in this context will only speed up the death of everyone on earth.
But, the problem in the first place was farmers and city dwellers (cities can only really exist because of farmers to begin with). So, this disconnection from our real relationship and interdependence with nature and wilderness is the seed of human extinction to begin with.
When you have too many children for the earth to sustain we all are committing slow or quick suicide for the entire human race.
Right now we have 8 times as many people as earth can sustain for thousands of years. I figure that 1 billion people or less is all that earth could possibly sustain for thousands of years on the surface (unless we all moved underground) (which might happen as winds go over 100 miles per hour more regularly all over the earth this century.
Because unless you have a rope tied to a house or car or rock or tree that won't blow away, winds over 100 mph if people are out in the open they are either going to blow away and die or something will blow into them like a sign or limb of a tree or other objects which is going to kill them anyway.
So, I think over time the people that survive all this will either move underground or build their houses more out of cement and steel to withstand the winds which will blow all wooden structures away starting this century all over the surface of the earth.
If you study climate change we are witnessing winds slowly increase in speeds during all sorts of storms now all over the earth because more heat stored in the oceans creates faster and faster winds during storms.
For example, fire tornadoes caused by heat and winds here in California were such a rarity you almost never heard of them until the last 10 or 20 years. Now you have many many of them in fires every year.
When I was a boy we ONLY had fires in the Spring, or Summer and maybe Fall. But now, really bad fires can occur in Winters too. So, you see how all this is getting worse here in California regarding fires caused by Global Climate change and Global warming.
