When I was thinking back on this time I was 43 in 1991 when this happened. If someone asked me now before I did this research on it I likely would have said that the Soviet Union collapsed in 1989 and 1990. So, I was actually surprised when it actually ended as a government. The 1990s were very hard for the Russian people and many starved during the Transition to Yeltsin who died of Alcohol Poisoning. But, before he died he put Putin in Charge of Russia and he has been in charge ever since. He was a KGB Colonel in East Germany when the Berlin wall fell.
