This is why I thought the Soviet Union ended in 1989 or 1990 because the Berlin Wall began to fall via sledge hammers of the West and East German people in November 9th of 1989. Before that anyone taking a sledgehammer to the wall would have been shot on site by East German soldiers and anyone trying to escape East Berlin was shot before this date if they didn't get away in time from 1961 until 1989
