The problem in europe is that air conditioners are less common in homes than in the U.S.

This and the fact that energy costs mostly are cost prohibitive for many people to run Air conditioners at all likely is going to cause more and more deaths in Europe over time, especially as global Warming gets worse and worse.

However, if global warming changes the Gulf stream for real like in the movie "The Day After Tomorrow" then Much of Europe also might become a real ice box without the Gulf Streams warming currents during most of the year.
