As a 15 year old when I first decided that my goal in life was to become enlightened for my benefit and for the benefit of all beings in the universe I thought enlightenment was one thing.
However, as a 74 year old adult I realize that enlightenment is many things to many people.
What is the common denominator of all enlightenment?
If I were to describe it it would that I originally thought that one would know everything. However, in actual experience it is more like "You ARE everything" more than knowing everything.
But, you do know whatever you need to know in any given moment when enlightened so you aren't worried about what you need to know because it is automatic.
So, whatever you need to know you know you will know when you need to know it, wherever you are in time and space or beyond time and space.
So, enlightenment is a type of intrinsic peace you have about life.
You aren't usually angry about how life is because you understand how it functions much like you might observe how a gasoline engine or diesel engine works.
You might not like how something works but if you understand it often you can cope with it better.
So, as you watch people die and be born you are more accepting of these things as a normal part of life rather than to constantly fight against it. by Accepting life in being what it is (whatever that is) you are better able to help yourself and all beings around you be happier and survive better because of it.
So, enlightenment's main function is inner peace, logic, reason, intuitive gifts and protecting mankind from going extinct by being too crazy.
So, Enlightenment is about human survival here on earth and beyond into other worlds too.
By God's Grace
