Safety while hiking or mountain Climbing

I think it is the Iphone 14 and higher where you have a built in Satellite phone in your emergency services when you call 911 from literally any location on earth so people can be rescued just about anywhere they can get a signal out to a satellite somewhere on earth even out in the ocean somewhere.

Another interesting safety device (if you know how to read longitude and latitude is a hand held GPS device which also is based but this is more useful I believe in the Continental United States to find out where you are when you are lost due to white outs or in heavy trees where you cannot see out and get a good bearing as to where you are.

It's very easy for people to wander into a wilderness somewhere that will be very very beautiful this year, especially this spring and summer and forget to locate themselves exactly where they are. This is especially true of people who have been drinking something or smoking something where their minds are sort of altered during this experience.

It's very important to locate yourself when you start any hike and note large trees or mountains or groups of rocks or other things to get your bearings. It might not be as important in cities or suburbs because you can always ask someone where you are. But, what if there is NO ONE THERE for 50 miles at all and then you drink or smoke something and then soon you don't know where you are either and people have to try to locate you for days and you might not survive?

So, there is a seriousness to hiking or mountain climbing that reminds me more of piloting a plane or driving a car or truck or piloting and sailing your own boat out in the ocean.

In other words if you don't take seriously where you are going who is going to if no one else is there?
