My daughter and I went to one of the California state parks along the ocean. The surf was impressive from the storm and we thought we had gone during a break in the storm. However, when we actually tried to get out of the car in the park it was windy and some rain was coming down constantly. However, it was nice to spend some time in a park with my daughter because both my daughters are Avid hikers like I always was most of my life.
Now, at 75 I go to the nearest beaches now and walk our dog, a corgi. Most of the year I can walk barefoot along the beaches but it's been too cold lately to do this. But basically about 10 or 11 months a year I am usually able to go barefoot along the beach. I find if I wear Crocs I can kick them off easily on the beach and come back and pick them up. Later at home I can go into my backyard where our deck is and wash the sand off my feet without tracking it indoors. Many people don't want to walk barefoot on the beach because they don't want to deal with the sand. However, mostly I take my truck to the beach which has Winter Tech mats which capture the rain and snow without drowning the floor of my truck. So, they also capture any sand that gets into my truck too. So, coming back from the beach I leave her on the front floor on the winter tech mat so she doesn't get sand on the seat of my truck. This way her sand and my sand doesn't harm anything in vehicles or at home. The nice thing about Crocs is that they are waterproof so I can also wash the sand off both inside and outside of my Crocs without damaging them. Also, Crocs protect your toes from damage which is nice as sandals go too.
