Partly because zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been attacked by Russian Soldiers in this war and partly because they are now understaffed (4000 workers instead of 11,000) they are very concerned about a meltdown because of improper maintenance during this war by Putin against Ukraine. They showed a radiation map where the meltdown radiation would go to places like Istanbul in Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria and Greece and radiate ongoing for at least 100 years that whole area.
However, if you understand the psychology of Putin he might not mind that at all as long as people in Ukraine suffer and die from not allowing him to take over their country. Self Destruction seems to be a part of Putin's psychology from his training in East Germany in the KGB as a Colonel there before the Berlin Wall Fell.
