San Marcos Pass above Santa Barbara got 10.37 inches of rain in one night!

Also, the Santa Barbara Airport is closed now because of flooding until at least Wednesday or after simply because the airport for now is a lake.

The rains were very heavy all Sunday Night. They haven't really stopped but they are lighter now. I think one more storm is coming but it is lighter. However, every inch of rain more loosens soil and trees and if there is any wind they might come down. Flooding in Southern California has become more normalized this year in many places.

We are lucky in that we are not in a flood plain or near any rivers. However, I did take a movie with my IPhone outside today of how much water is going down the drains in the street sort of like a small river at this point. I put a rubber jacket on today to climb to the top of the hill near where we are staying here in Santa Barbara to walk our dog. The good part of being here is that the rains don't usually cause power outages at this particular house for some reason whereas our house near to San Francisco on the coast already lost power for almost a week while we were there.

However, 54 degrees inside our house near San Francisco likely cured us of trying to ride out the power outages next time because I'm 75 and my wife is 68 and we were exhausted for up to a week after dealing with the generator and trying to stay warm enough in our house so we built fires in the fire place and moved a leather sofa up near the fireplace to stay warm enough so we didn't get sick like others did who didn't have fireplaces or wood to burn like we did.

What I might do next power outage there is to keep coming to the house to keep the generator running every 4 or 5 hours so we don't lose 1000 dollars or more of food in the freezer and refrigerator and get a hotel to stay warm. After 4 days of power being out 2 weeks ago we finally got a hotel for the last two nights and days of the power outage.
