Unless you want to put a gasoline generator on your roof or towed in a trailer, hybrids make more sense than EVs

If you live in California, Oregon or Washington it is possible that a fully electric vehicle will work for you (IF you live near a large enough city or area that has recharging stations or if you have a plug at your home). Also, unless you have solar power at your home you are still burning about 50% of your electricity that comes from Natural Gas through steam turbines (especially in California).

So, buying a hybrid actually makes more practical sense because it is a gasoline engine which generates electricity for your car to run on. So, all you need is gasoline to run a hybrid whereas a fully electric vehicle needs charging stations whether that is from your house or from a charging station somewhere. So, you need to figure when you are traveling how to deal with the 45 minutes to 1 hour it takes to recharge your Electric vehicle too.
