if you have ever heard a person keening it is not something you will EVER forget!

I have only really experienced this once with my present wife when her mother died and it was uncontrollable where she collapsed inside her closet and closed the door and keened.

It is sort of like hearing wolves howl and it is extremely deep and primal and I wondered if I was going to lose my wife and have to raise our 2 1/2 year old daughter alone like I had raised my son alone after he was 3 years old already.

But, luckily we got a Grief Therapist (which we still see periodically) but after a while he was more for fine tuning our marriage more than anything else after the initial grief wears off with 2 to 5 years for most people.

So, if people don't go insane from Grief then there is hope for them.

When something serious happens you can get physically ill or you can go crazy (temporarily or permanently).

Luckily, my wife realized she still had to stay alive for her 2 1/2 year old daughter and for me and for herself.

So, in the end everything turned out okay for us in regard to my wife and her being a mother and a friend for life and all that.

So, don't take keening lightly. It's a very serious thing! and if it isn't handled properly you might lose that person either physically or mentally or emotionally. It's important to know this is a very primal thing keening. It is not cultural in any way. It is completely primal and hard to witness because you know you might lose this person when it happens.

So, a therapist might be really important when you see someone keening!

Good Luck with this!
