One of my wife's best friends used to live in Half Moon Bay but after she broke up with her then husband we hadn't gone back there much. So, I told her I wanted to drive there because it is really beautiful there this time of year, especially because of the extremely warm weather there in the 70s Fahrentheit. So, we drove there together and on the way she walked on the beach (first time since her full knee replacement last June). I have tried not to rush her into things because I remember the PTSD I experienced myself from almost dying of a Heart virus and being forced to retire so I wouldn't just drop dead one day.
I got better in May 1999 but it left it's mark on me for a long time. The best thing was I didn't die. The second best thing was I outgrew middle aged crazy where you are upset that your youth is disappearing starting about 37 to 43 years of age which makes you a little manic in your life. But, when at age 49 and 50 I almost died for 8 months this worrying about dying completely went away. What I was left with was being happy for each moment I had left with my family and friends. It is with this attitude I started blogging first in 1999 in I believe June at Geocities while it was still existing until the mid 2000s (around 2005 I think or so).
Anyway, when my wife walked on a remote beach with me as we watched one of those silver sunsets which are really amazing looking where cirrus ice clouds are thick enough to make the sun silver but under that the sunset is pink and gold. So, we watched the sun set on a really remote Hiway one beach near to Half Moon Bay and then when it got dark stayed in a Bed and Breakfast right next to the ocean with the ocean crashing all night long with a veranda overlooking the ocean.
I noticed the bed and breakfast had been built on cement piling stilts for when the water rises and washes into the parking lot as the ocean rises during storms and storm surges. So, the Bed and breakfast wouldn't be washed away during storms for the next 10 or 20 years at least being built this way.
So, we dog our corgi dog with us so she was really happy and it sort of reminded me of traveling with my youngest daughter by having my daughter's corgi with us while my two daughters are far away in college right now.
So, just getting my wife to travel like this likely made me happier than anything else in the past year. Because it was a real breakthrough for her realizing she could walk on beaches again without falling down. Her physical therapy had paid off and she needed to realize just how far she had come.
However, whether it was my heart virus or whether it is a knee replacement or any other type of trauma you endure, it isn't easy to come out the other side of all that either physically or psychologically. It's a long hard climb even if you have enough money to see you through something like this until you come out the other side.
So, I was very grateful to feel I'm now beginning to get my wife back from before her pain became so great about a year ago now that I was talking in my sleep and complaining in my sleep to her that I couldn't go on with what all the ongoing pain had done to her. She's back! And I'm very grateful and so is she! By God's Grace!
I'm probably not a good enough photographer to get a silver sunset to really come alive with a camera so here are some examples of one here:

Half Moon Bay
I had picked my son up as SFO (San Francisco International Airport) as he had flown in for a week before he got married by himself to see us since we haven't seen him in person in about a year as he lives too far away to visit easily now. So, he was sort of tired and I asked him whether he wanted to go to Half Moon Bay on our way home. He was sort of tired and said the plane was sort of cramped because he is about 6 foot 1 or 2 and having enough room for your knees and feet is a big thing on planes if you are about 5 foot 11 or 6 feet or more.
So, we hopped on HIway 92 and went over the coastal range to Half Moon Bay. I had hoped to see the big wave surfers at Maverick's Beach but they had all gone since they surf competitively in the early mornings so just a Hiway Patrol or 2 was left to watch the area. Because it was about 2pm when we passed Maverick's. On the way he wanted to drive my 4WD truck so I let him drive along the extremely scenic Hiway One south from Half Moon Bay. I had wanted to have sort of an adventure with my son like we used to when he lived in California still up to about a year ago now. So, we walked out on a couple of the state beaches on the way down. I took off my crocs and walked barefoot on the beaches because it was at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit out. So, though I wore a jacket I could go barefoot in my jeans in the water with my cuffs rolled up and be comfortable there. There were driftwood art objects that people had made with redwood and other pieces of wood that washes out rivers and into the ocean and then back onto land from the waves all along this part of the coast both north and South of Half Moon Bay. We stopped as he was starting to get a little tired and bought some strawberries,
by the way Ollaliberries look a lot like Boysenberries and taste in some ways similar.

Olallieberries
, and raspberries that had ripened on the vines from locals as well as two jars of Felix's Honey (Half Moon Bay Address) made from wild flowers which is pure raw local honey. The people we bought it from were nice and though the prices weren't cheap you knew you were getting healthy fruit and Honey because of the remoteness from cities since it is all grown and harvested right there along the coast near Half Moon Bay.by the way Ollaliberries look a lot like Boysenberries and taste in some ways similar.
