Gifted People

Back in the 1950s there were a lot of really intelligent people like Marilyn Monroe playing dumb blondes because if they were actually as dumb as the blondes they played they would have never made it as far as they did.

It is like that with all kinds of gifted people and always has been whether those gifts are mental, physical, emotional or even supernatural. If it is dangerous or you think it might be too dangerous to reveal something about yourself generally you don't.

So even though I like TV programs like "Heroes" it is sort of childish and sensationalistic. Yes. It is very entertaining. However, gifted people tend to operate completely(in every way) differently than they do on this show. However, it is great fun to watch.

So down through history people with all kinds of gifts were open about their gifts only if they thought it might be both survivable and profitable in some way.

If one is truly gifted then part of the equation is surviving. If you don't survive to adulthood it doesn't really matter how gifted you are because unless you live to have children you can't pass on those genes to the next generation.

$7500 for Average home in Detroit

You might think I'm missing a zero but I'm not. Though it is distressing it is true and shows just how bad things are in Motor City now. In my own county the average home price has dropped by at least 50% in the last year. I'm lucky because in the affluent area where I live home values have only dropped 14% here in California in the County where I live. But I worry for the rest of the home owners in the rest of my county. The ramifications of a 50% drop in the value of one's home is almost never ending.

When God took me

Yes. This title isn't a mistake. I wanted to convey an experience of being taken by God sort of like it was rape. For me that was what it was like. I thought I was going to die. I thought my life was over. It was. I was young and didn't understand anything yet. I do now.

It was a lot like being a young lion who was shot and eaten by a human and then becoming the human. This is the best way I can express what this experience was like for me. Being murdered, then eaten but then taking on the consciousness of the human when I was only a young wild lion. Yes. This describes it.

Do I miss being a lion? Yes. But lions don't live long and they don't know very much. So I prefer being one with God now. But then I was terrified and so afraid I shook from the trauma.

The trauma was less once I invited God to live in my body permanently, and he did.

The trauma was between ages 10 to 15. I suppose I could also say it was from birth in another sense. I almost died from whooping cough at age 2 and from childhood epilepsy from ages 10 to 15. But when I invited God to permanently live in my body with me, he did and I have been supernaturally gifted ever since. I didn't know then the consequences of asking God to live in my body. I do now but now I'm 60. The consequences of having God live in my body scared me a lot until I was about 30 when it all began to come into balance. But the basic terror of it all left when I was 15. Then I just felt I had a tiger by the tail for about 15 years and then when I met my first Tibetan Lama it all came into balance and I understood completely who and what I was and could fully experience my self in balance as an instrument of God and as a son of God. We are all sons and daughters of God. It's just that most of us aren't aware of it consciously. We put God outside of ourselves. But always in reality this is a lie.

The truth is that God is everything in the universe including us and that it is not useful in any way shape or form to see ourselves as separate from God in any way. Nor is it useful in any way to see ourselves as separate from any other part of life in the universe. There Is Only God. There is nothing else! Yes. There is separation if you believe it. But that is only really a lie. There is only God and nothing else in reality.

I was reading the last 1/3 of the Book "Eat Pray Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert.

There is a story of the Balinese Medicine man in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia that she is studying with after living in Italy and India. He tells the story of how he wanted to become an artist because this was his talent but one day he was painting his masterpiece for a rich New York type patron when he oil lamp caught fire and his painting arm caught fire. He went to the hospital and they recommended that he have his arm cut off as they couldn't save it. However, for 9 generations the men in his family had been Balinese medicine men, healers, respected by most Balinese traditional people. In a dream his father, Grandfather and Great GRandfather came to him and told him then how to heal his burned arm so it wouldn't have to be cut off. They also told him that he must also be a medicine men like they had been because God had chosen him for this purpose. When he woke up he did as they said and his arm healed and he didn't have to have it cut off. He became a medicine man and he now says this profession is not only his profession but also his hobby. he loves helping people.

God has always come through me to heal peoples spirits all my life. I didn't really have to touch them physically to help them. Though often because I came up through the 1960s and flower children(I was 21 in 1969) I have always hugged people this always seemed to heal people when I did this because I always hug people while experiencing God. Though this might make people feel faint God tempers this response in people leaving them happy or feeling friendship instead.

I can remember going to many parties when I was single and under 25 years old. Back then among flower children and yes, some were educated hippies one had to hug everyone at that party as a part of the ambiance of my generation. There were always about 25% of the people I really didn't want to hug both male and female. But still all this hugging kept many people alive. I wish this custom still existed like it did then. It keeps many people alive who don't have a lover or really close friend. Sometimes 10 people would all hug each other at once at these times. Hugging is very healing or was during the idealism then. Many people looking in from the outside who weren't a part of the hugging culture thought it was just sexual. This is not true. Though man might turn on his animal magnetism if he was hugging 100 people at a party for certain girls, generally sexuality really wasn't the point. It was friends communing with friends. It was a very healing time both for flower children and educated hippies. There was just so much death(at least 50,000 draftees in Viet Nam and 250,000 wounded) that were our brothers and friends that every moment we had we rejoiced that we were still alive and not physically or mentally or emotionally dead like many we knew that came back home during those crazy times.

So, by giving me Childhood epilepsy God first almost killed me then saved me from Viet Nam because I was the age(born 1948) of the highest amount of deaths and casualties from the Viet Nam War. So God first almost killed me then blessed me and kept me home from that awful awful war so I am still a whole person and not half like everyone I knew who fought on the front lines. All my friends who came back were no longer boys, they seemed mostly like walking dead men and strangers to me then. These were very hard times.

So, since God raped and killed me as a child I have prospered as a young man and as an older man now. I am grateful for the blessings and life he graced me with. And I am most of all grateful that he took my life away so that I could be one of his healing instruments that it took me so many years to completely understand.

The silliness of notches

Sometimes people see me as a retired old lover who had many girlfriends once upon a time. However, for me now at age 60 that is just silliness. I would trade all my 75 or 80 lovers and the other 400 women or so I have french kissed for one person who was there for me and a true love that started when I was 10 or 12 or 15 or 17. All the women I was with I loved to a greater or lesser degree. But each time I broke up with one of them a piece of me died that could not be revived. So now I have a bunch of broken memories of girlfriends long gone or dead now. The only way I have found to keep a girl friend is to marry her and have kids with her or live with her otherwise at some point she is gone if you sleep with her unless you stay with her. Sleeping with a woman is a really good way to lose a very good friend unless you stay with her after you sleep with her. Enough said.

Also, even though I have had many many girlfriends mostly between my ages 15 to 25, I have now been married three times, so 4 years, 14 years and 15 years which comes to a total of 33 years of marriage and always raising at least one child under 15 since 1974. I still have a 12 year old daughter and a 23 year old God daughter living with my wife and I and I'm now 60. Life goes on.

That's Life

Life is sadness and
true love is rare but
compassion and kindness
are everywhere

understanding this
frees one from the pain
by being compassionate
everyone gains

for even true love
usually doesn't stay long
this world doesn't allow
beautiful flowers to last

since all of us souls
live forever it seems
compassion is the only love
the creator redeems

so try as we might
to make true love work
compassion and friendship
is the best we can do

C'est la vie

dragonwisdom on twitter

I finally decided to see what all the hubbub is about with twitter. dragonofcompassion and intuitivefred888 were both too long so I settled for dragonwisdom as a handle or user name for twitter. I don't know if I'll use it much because it doesn't really make a lot of sense to me yet. However, I'm studying it because it seems to be another strange communication thing circling the planet. It reminds me a lot of people who text a lot on their phones. It's a way to keep in touch without having to talk for 1/2 hour or more to keep up a friendship. I find my 19 year old daughter prefers to text me rather than call to keep her independence I suppose. So this whole texting thing just moved from private phone to phone texts to public twitters. Different. I have to think more about it and see what I feel is useful or interesting about it. Of course I felt the same way when I opened this blogger.com account 1 1/2 years ago. So it takes time to get used to what it all might mean.

Asteroid close call for Earth

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090304/ap_on_re_us/asteroid_close_call

The above webpage refers to the asteroid that missed earth by only 48,000 miles which is much closer than the moon.

My question would be: Will this asteroid hit earth on its next orbit around the sun? or the next?

I also wrote the other night about the year 7120BC as the year a meteor hit in the Hudson Bay near Canada and forever changed the landscape by inundating most of the northern hemisphere under water except mountains. This is a likely date for Noah's ark, Atlantis sinking and even the red sea withdrawing for Moses because the ocean water effects in the southern hemisphere would have been less coming up the right side of Africa than say in England when it created a permanent separation between England and Europe through the English Channel at that time.

So, things like meteors and asteroids if they are large enough can and do hit earth from time to time. If they are smaller than a semi truck often they burn up in the atmosphere. However, the one that just missed us was the size of a ten story building. That size doesn't burn up and can do incredible damage whether it hits the ocean or on land. Either way. It is important to remember that the Gulf of Mexico was dug by a Asteroid or Meteor and extincted all the large dinosaurs on earth during that hit.

Recessions I lived Through

I thought it might be useful for you who are now between 15 and 35 and may not remember ANY recessions very well because you were just too young to really appreciate what was really going on.

The craziest recessions for me were the one in the 1970s and the one that ended around 1983.

Let me set you up so you have some idea of the context for what I'm trying to share. First, the Viet Nam War was still going on. 50,000 (that we know of) soldiers(mostly drafted young ones) died and 250,000 were wounded between 1965 and 1974 in and around Viet Nam. The recession was directly caused by spending ourselves almost into bankruptcy then too because of the Viet Nam War. This needs to be understood to make sense of the beginning of the 70s recessions and the 1980s recession.

I would have to say that the 1970s recession sort of began with the Arab Oil Embargo.(The Arab Nations decided not to sell oil to us to show us how powerful they were). This immediately tripled the price of gas and I think for a time it even quadrupled the price of gas. So it started at about 15 to 17 to 19 cents a gallon then rose at its worse to about 80 or 90 cents a gallon. Though people could still afford to pay for the new gas prices, the cutoff of enough gas made people wait for 8 to 9 hours some days to buy 5 gallons of gas. It was horrible and people would fight with tire irons and put each other in the hospital so I finally decided I wasn't going to go wait 8 to 9 hours for gas so I just went about 8 to 9 pm at night just before they closed and had to wait only an hour or so then for my 5 gallons. In 1973 I was 25 years old.

This recession basically began because we had to pay 4 times then 3 times normal for gas from then on. It made inflation go out of control and thing didn't really go back to any kind of normalcy at all until the mid 1980s because of this.

At the same time(within a year) we had impeachment hearings regarding President Nixon in Congress that tore everything apart too. Also, within the previous 10 years to this. Bobby Kennedy who was running for President was assasinated, Martin Luther King was Assasinated, and President Kennedy was assasinated. So no one trusted that our democracy was a democracy during this time anyway. We hoped we had a democracy but no one I knew really believed it then so everyone was very scared like now. Only then we were afraid of the governments. Now we are afraid of the criminals who pretended to be bankers and could because of no regulation or not enough regulation worldwide destroy temporarily or permanently the world banking industry.

For many people the 70s recession was scary. I found 1980 to 1983 the scariest of all. The U.S. average unemployment rate for 1982 was 9.7% and for 1983 9.6%.(The highest in my 60 year lifetime until now) Whereas even though all the Arab Oil Embargo problems peaked in 1973 it drove the unemployment rates from 4.9% in 1973 to 5.6 in 1974 and to and unheard of since the Great Depression back then, 8.5% unemployment in 1975 and above 6% until 1979. However, by 1980 it went back up to 7.1% 1981 7.6% 1982 9.7% and 1983 9.6% and we didn't even see anything in the 6% unemployment range again until 1987.

However, you are looking around yourself right now and think unemployment, figures nationwide are around the 1982 and 1983 nationwide unemployment right now. However where I live in the state of California unemployment is at least 10.5% and going higher as I write this.

So, it is quite likely that California hasn't seen unemployment figures like this since the Great Depression. And the nation's unemployment rates appear to be rising because of the lack of business loans and business financing available from banks. So even good businesses are going bankrupt nationwide because of bad banks. This is happening worldwide.

So, without subprime loans authorized by banks and mortgage companies and without credit default swaps and the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers triggering the whole thing the world financial system would not be augering straight into the ground the way it is now.

So, you may ask what will turn all this around? Seriously speaking only the nationalization of most or all banks worldwide coupled with enough good worldwide regulations of all banking institutions to get them to loan again. Without these events there does not appear to be anything that can stop this augering in of the free world banking system and all businesses who have to borrow money to operate including the big 3 automakers in the U.S.
For me, personally this present crisis is more impossible to deal with in any useful way than any recession I have ever seen before in my lifetime. There was a straightforwardness to what we dealt with before in other recessions since 1970. Almost anyone could wrap their minds around it, even me. I eventually realized that the world would prop up the U.S. after Viet Nam spending debacle because they NEEDED us to be there for a variety of reasons not the least of which was that the old Soviet Union was around and was scary as hell for the whole world because of the constant threat of nukes(as in one day earth might be totally gone into asteroids).

However, now I'm not so sure other nations will prop us up because of globalization all nations except for India and China are as severely financially harmed as the U.S.

So, unless the United States and Europe can all borrow money from China and India we are all in trouble in a whole new way.

7120BC

My wife is reading a book in which this date is very important. Though it is a fictional novel still it is using science which recognizes this year as the year when a large Meteor hit in the Hudson Bay and caused severe flooding of North America, Europe, and Northern Asia as a result. It is a likely date of Noah's Ark, Atlantis sinking and even a timing for the red sea parting for Moses since the water effects of this strike were less coming up the back side of Africa toward the Red Sea. However, all farms in Europe and North America and almost all people living in North America and Europe likely were drowned by the deluge that occured from this huge meteor Strike into the Hudson Bay of what is now Canada.

Another of the results of large movements of water is that the English channel permanently separated what is now England and Scotland from the European Mainland.

Another interesting fact about this time is that the superstition found around the world about comets and meteors being a harbinger of evil events mostly originated from this large meteor strike in 7120BC.

So, likely, at least in the northern hemisphere all farming below 3000 to 5000 feet in elevation likely ended for a time just because all those farmers were killed by the rushing waters in the norther hemisphere. So mountains for a time became Islands like the Rocky Mountains and the Swiss Alps and the people who resettled the land after all the plains and farm people died came from the mountains where they lived before and during the deluge.

Obama and Reincarnation

Obama and President Lincoln were both citizens of Illinois when they became President. Obama studies all of Lincoln's thoughts and Ideas in order to prepare to become President.

What I'm wondering if Obama is President Lincoln reincarnated. He has the same steady hand that seems both analytical and even at all times even when one can observe that it is a strain to do so. This steady rational very intelligent style seems in many ways like a clone of President Lincoln. Could Obama be a reincarnation of Lincoln?

Opinion

Everything I write is my opinion of what is happening in the universe past, present and future. Of course this is completely dependent upon the quality of information I can get in any given direction or group of directions. So that what I share is the best information I can get about whatever I'm writing about any given moment.

Even when I write under the heading Fiction? I'm still giving my opinion as to the best of my experience to the best of my ability. If I feel I have written something that isn't that good or the facts or feeling aren't right I delete what I have written usually within 12 to 24 hours after I write it. So I only leave things I have written that I feel will help people to better understand themselves or life around them and help to keep them alive and have their lives be better.

I took vows in 1983 not only not to harm or kill any being(human, animal, bird, insect, snake etc) but also to do whatever I could to help bring every being into enlightenment using right mindful wise compassion means. What this means is helping beings have better lives both here and hereafter as efficiently done as is possible in any given moment. So I'm always looking for ways to do this in more and more efficient ways so that all beings in the universe past, present and future can end their suffering and attain permanent bliss as soon as is possible and practical.

Blogger.com founder also founded Twitter

I was listening to a video clip of Evan Williams who founded Blogger.com and twitter. He was trying to explain the reason for the popularity of Twitter. Twitter uses only 140 characters from any given person or company in any tweet.

I personally can see the value of this. It is sort of like asking a person on the street. How do I get to a specific place. Or "What do you think of such and such."

Sometimes the answer could be "yes" or "NO" or "watch Out" or whatever. The good thing is you get someone's (hopefully) honest answer to any given situation that they are willing to tweet about.

Just like with blogging one has to realize that almost anyone could read your tweet and so one needs to protect oneself (and friends and family or even country, or world) in what one says. Among younger people(6 to 20 year olds) this is more of a problem because they might not immediately get what information not to share or protect. And this creates a further problem if these young ones release certain kinds of information that could damage themselves, their parents, their peers, the world.

So, it is important to realize when one tweets or blogs that one must be conscious of the fact that ANYONE sane or not, terrorist or not has access to this tweet or blog. And theoretically, this information could be kept and used against anyone for hundreds or thousands of years. So, this is something to think about too.

Tibetan Prayer Flags

I likely saw my first Tibetan Prayer flags here in the United States in Berkeley, California near the UC Berkeley or in Santa Cruz, California likely in the early 1980s. If I saw them before this likely I didn't know what they were.

There are at least 2 different types of prayer flags. When my wive bought an ornate Tibetan Bowl at a local farmer's market downtown he gave her as a gift some Tibetan Prayer Flags. I had thought for awhile I wanted to put them up in a way we could enjoy them in our backyard while the winds prayed through them taking their prayers on the wind of compassion and kindness to all mankind and all beings everywhere.

Yesterday I put them up but there wasn't much wind but as I thought about it more I realized I hadn't properly installed them because the cloth inks of the Buddhas were going sideways instead of standing straight up. I realized that this was a different kind of Tibetan Prayer Flag than I had seen before and did better run vertically to fly as an actual flag instead of being many smaller flags strung out along a string or line. So I reinstalled them vertically and then the winds came as if from Hawaii they were so warm. So as soon as I installed these prayer flags properly the weather completely changed and I felt the prayers go out in amazing ways upon the wind. May God's Good Fortune Smile upon All Being. Tashi Delek.

As I had walked Himalayan trails high in the Himalayas in Nepal and India I had often seen the stupa(memorials with human relics of high lamas) along the high footpaths often just before one crosses a long high swinging foot bridge. Often people fall off these long swinging foot bridges either because of wind or a plank or rope breaking or because since often in those areas there are no roads at all and if people get sick they have to be carried piggy back across these swinging foot bridges that are often 500 to 1000 feet off the ground in many place. So if you fall off for any reason you don't survive. So, that High Lamas and monks put sacred relics near these bridges and on dangerous trails makes a lot of sense to me.

When you come across one of these places with a temple stupa with relics usually inside with Tibetan Flags usually flapping in the breeze it is always a very otherworldly experience. Because usually you are between 10 and 50 miles from the nearest car or road when this takes place. You might now these days be within 10 or 20 miles of a heliport pad but this wasn't true when I trekked the Himalayas in the 1980s.

20 degrees above normal

Tonight it is about 20 degrees above normal here at 9pm pst on the northern California coast. I walked out onto my redwood deck with my wife and thought I was in Hawaii as my Tibetan prayer flags blew in the wind. I took a walk with my wife and watched the rain clouds blow across the moon. It Felt just like Hawaii at night during this time of year when I lived there. Very unusual. I looked at the storm and it stretches out into the pacific for at least 1000 miles and on up all the way into British Columbia and Alberta in one almost straight line of storms. Very unusual.

Vipassana

It means to see things as they really are. It is a very popular meditation technique which is based upon focusing upon your breath.

This technique was designed thousands of years ago and then rediscovered 2500 years ago by Guatama Buddha 500 years before Christ. Many people believe that the idea of Christian brotherhood and getting away from an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth came from Jesus studying with Buddhist monks sometime between ages 12 to 30.

My 19 year old daughter decided to do a 10 day Vipassana meditation in Oregon with a group of people led by an experienced teacher and staff. She said it was the single most amazing experience of her life. So was doing this to honor herself turning 20 and in her eyes becoming a more full fledged adult.

Though I have had friends years ago that did the ten day Vipassana retreat I have not done this. However, I have received the Dzog Chen initiation from a Tibetan Lama I met in Rewalsar, India where Padmasambhava taught Princess Mandrava and did many amazing things there. Dzog Chen in some ways is like Vipassana in the way it heals a person and everyone around them both internally and externally.

My daughter said that she was told that this Vipaasana is designed to heal just like lancing a boil and removing the pus. It is a way of releasing all the pain one has experienced in ones life and then moving on as an adult rather than living in ones adapted child forever. Because until one can release the pains of life one cannot move on psychologically or physically in ones life in any useful way. This doesn't mean it is easy, however.

Sitting still meditating while focusing only on ones breath allows every imaginable thing both good and bad to fly past on. On top of this during the 10 days no sexual contact is allowed, no books, no radio and no tv. So this puts many people into a state which I might call sensory deprivation. In this state one might hallucinate very wonderful or very terrible things. However, in the end one will know themselves better than they ever did before in every way. Also, no drugs of any kind unless they are prescribed by a doctor to keep a person alive are allowed.

My daughter said most people made it through with only a few who were already having serious personal problems before they did this dropped out. The teachers said it is very important to finish this process in order for the healing to complete before one leaves the retreat.

Because of the nature of the meditation it does not conflict with the precepts of any religion that I know of. In other words it could be useful to you whether you believe in any religion or no religion at all. It is simply a technique to free oneself from all ones pains and to grow up more fully in the way one looks at both themselves and all life around them.

My daughter was amazed at how much it changed her and made her see things in much more adult like healthy ways.
