Compassion and Trust are two very different things.
I can have compassion for all beings, even tigers and lions and rhinos and elephants and bears and crocodiles.
But, that doesn't mean I should trust any of these things.
The same with people because there are people who behave every day or on occasion like wild tigers and lions and rhinos and elephants and bears and crocodiles.
So, just because you have compassion for all beings in the universe doesn't mean you are stupid.
I also believe in self defense in all situations in the most efficient manner possible in any given situation.
But, that doesn't mean I don't have compassion for all beings it just means that I believe in Right mindful efficient compassion rather than idiot compassion which often gets people killed or maimed.
In order to have efficient right mindful compassion which actually can help many many people one needs enough experience regarding whoever or whatever they are dealing with for a good result to actually happen.
So, often times the most compassionate thing to do in some situations is just to walk away because some animals (or humans) are just not safe enough to help in most ordinary ways.
But that doesn't mean you don't pray for them.
