This book had a very profound effect on young people 12 to 30 in the 1960s and 1970s along with books like "Ecotopia" as well. It changed the way people thought about themselves and life around them a lot and made people more compassionate and less paranoid.
The problem after world war II was paranoia of the kind you now see in people who believe in Conspiracy theories today who act on their PTSD beliefs and people sometimes die as a result of them believing in lies. So, basically we are seeing the beginning of paranoia but this time through Covid Fatigue instead of Battle Fatigue that we saw during and after World war II worldwide.
