The Wisdom of Compassion

Compassion I believe comes from viewing all living things including humans as your relatives so they are your kin or kindred to you. At the same time one needs to become kin or kindred to themselves. Especially when young people can be afraid of being a human and afraid even of themselves and also afraid of everything that goes bump in the night as well. So, having enough time and experience with nature and with people in a positive way can overcome this obstacle to ongoing survival and sanity in a young person's life.

The first thing usually a person needs to learn is to trust themselves and their nature and their own decisions. Without doing this first it is very very difficult if not impossible for forward progress towards enlightenment. Also, drugs given to children can often interfere with their trust in their own actions and decisions as well.

All these things interfere with ongoing psychological and physical survival of a being especially a young human being.

So, becoming  someone that one can trust and that that person can trust themselves is necessary in the long run for full enlightenment and developing compassion.

There needs to be integrity within the individual and integrity of that person's actions towards others as well. This can be very difficult to achieve during wars and pandemics like we are presently in by the way.

How can one obtain this during a war or pandemic. One way is to try to spend more time in nature and observe nature in all it's forms and to learn to be as kind as possible to nature around you to begin with.

Tibetan monks are taught that all beings from humans to animals to insects to aliens to fish and birds etc were once their mothers as a way of learning compassion for all beings. IF you believe in reincarnation this is one way to develop compassion for other beings as well as oneself.

However, the Wisdom of compassion for oneself and all other beings tends to lead that being towards enlightenment and in living as long a lifetime as possible no matter the living situations (in wars or pandemics) that that person finds themselves in at this time on earth.

By God's Grace
