A Red state is a state that traditionally votes more Republican than Democrat.
And a Blue State is a state that votes more Democratic than Republican.
So, for example, Texas has tended to be a Red state and California and New York have tended to be Blue States. And some states like Georgia were red states but turned Blue during this last election which is why Republicans in Georgia have tried to suppress minority voters especially blacks and other races in Georgia.
However, big companies are taking their business out of Georgia too so this will economically hurt the state a lot too because of Georgia's voter suppression laws just enacted by Republicans.
