Why?
Because an ice age was ending so those 400 feet of water were locked in Ice likely some of it that cut Yosemite Valley and other places around the world.
So, it's not surprising that people are finding 7000 year old stone roads in the Mediterranean ocean. Likely there are underwater roads and cities anywhere there are population centers now that were there also thousands of years ago around places like India, AFrica, Europe, Middle East, Asia, all over the world if you just look underwater less than 400 feet deep.
For example, cities like Venice and Miami and New Orleans and others will be mostly underwater by 2100 as sea levels rise about 10 to 20 feet by then. Even where I live on the Northern San Francisco Coastal area the land has been washed away up to 10 or more feet just this winter from where it was before horizontally inland which is the most erosion I have seen likely in my lifetime on the Pacific ocean in one rainy season.
Another interesting thing is that 11,000 years ago there was a complete land bridge (not just ice) between Asia and Alaska too which explains a lot about how people got here a lot from Asia during these times. So, they didn't have to travel by ice or by Boat to get here although it's likely that some did get here that way.
