By the way 2020 brought 151 days of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more for Palm Springs. So, this likely is the first time it has reached 100 degrees this year and it's expected to reach 103 degrees today. I have been in Palm Springs at 125 degrees which is usually August or September when this happens. I was at the river mall coming out of a theater there once and it was 100 degrees at midnight one time where before you got into your car you had to run the car and the air conditioner just to get the car cool enough to actually get into.
Getting out of your car into 125 degrees is like climbing into an oven actually. But, you can survive short bursts of 125 degrees as a human being because it is usually dry enough to do that in Palm Springs. In humid climates people start dying at about 100 degrees Fahrenheit if the humidity is too high whereas if you don't stay long in 125 degrees you can do this for a few hours before you might pass out. The younger and the healthier you are the longer you might last in 125 degrees. However, heat prostration often kills people pretty quickly if they don't see it coming because you start to go to sleep and hallucinate. So, if you don't see the signs you are often dead if no one is there to save you and take care of you.
So, if you are not used to really hot dry weather you shouldn't take risks with your life in over 100 degree temperatures. However, everyone is going to do what they do.
NOTE: After I wrote this Palm Springs made it up to 105 degrees and there is a heat warning from Fresno to Bakersfield for tomorrow.
