In my early 20s it started to dawn on me that this was true. So, even if you know the truth most people either couldn't handle it or would actually die from the real truth.
So, if you give these people the truth and they die from the real truth what is your karma?
Likely it wouldn't be good if people died from the truth you bring into their lives.
So, thinking about people sort of like you think about children might be helpful at this point of realization where you know if you told some children the absolute truth they would go mad or die.
So, how do you handle this sort of thing?
It is what drove me to compassion and to Buddhism in the first place.
People in Christianity are always talking about "know the truth and the truth will set you free".
Yes. This is true if you are ready for the truth when it hits you otherwise you die from the truth.
And if you kill someone by dropping the truth on them one day who are you to do this?
So, being compassionate like one might be to children by trying to lessen the blows that life will automatically bring them eventually until they can handle what is actually going on in the world might be helpful. Or that might kill them too.
You never really know for sure the short and long term consequences of ANYTHING you do.
However, I believe that motivation is the most important thing here. Why are you sharing anything with people? What is your motivation?
If your motivation is good and kind and helpful then often what you share will improve their lives in the short run or the long run.
But, be careful of sharing the truth because that might kill them and then what are you going to do?
