We went to a restaurant on Santa Barbara Pier tonight with a friend (my wife and I) and I noticed something spouting which was pretty large. My wife said: "It must be a dolphin" as sailboats around 25 to 35 or more feet long went into and out of the Yacht harbor there next to the pier. Our Waitress said that it was a teenage Grey whale about 25 to 30 feet long. So, for several hours we watched while people were happy to see it on boats and paddle boards and even several Ducks( tourists use these that travel on land or water). It was funny to see all the people almost tip over the ducks trying to see the whale. I was a little concerned all of them being on one side of the duck could capsize them but so far they are okay, (the ones I saw anyway). So, then the sun set and this was a really mellow experience of Good food while watching the whale Spout as it sounded each time around the harbor there.
I think he felt safe there away from the Orcas that hunt Grey Whales because obviously he was by himself and not with a group.
