And even after that I stayed mostly vegetarian in my diet. By the way Lacto-ovo simply means you also eat milk and eggs (which also would include things like Cottage cheese and cheese etc.)
So, this is how I grew up. Once at age 10 I saw a machine that gave out chicken soup and it looked interesting to me. However, when I had this chicken soup I was sick for a week so I didn't try that again.
Your body has to get used to eating anything meat if you haven't had it before. I have a friend who hasn't ever eaten meat in his life and he is presently 72 years old. His only medicine is Vitamin B-12 sublinguals because he has no other health problems other than pernicious anemia from being a vegetarian his whole life.
The biggest problem growing up a vegetarian was I couldn't eat at most restaurants unless they were vegetarian Restaurants like SRF Restaurants in Hollywood, California or Encinitas, California along the ocean near San Diego then in the 1950s.
So, most restaurants I could order a glass of milk, a grilled cheese sandwich, a baked potato, a salad without any meat or fish or bird and maybe a desert like Lemon meringue pie or a piece of cake or some kind of chocolate, Strawberry or Vanilla Ice Cream.
However, then when I was 50 years old with a heart virus I went to Stanford University Hospital and they were completely amazed I had no plaque in my arteries at all. So, this was unheard of for ANY 50 year old man they had ever seen come through the hospital.
So, it's true when they did my angiogram I didn't have any plaque at all but that wasn't what I was suffering from anyway it was a heart virus they found out by the process of elimination 9 months later in may of 1999.
So, possibly I'm still alive today because I was born and raised a vegetarian. Something to think about.
