I'm thinking at least for now, the majority of people who might die from this new plague might be in Russia

But, the FSB which is the descendant of KGB of the Cold War would try to hide all this (likely unsuccessfully) from the rest of the world and likely many many FSB Workers (Federal Policement and Police women) would be some of the first to die of this plague too.
