Japanese Archaeologists Find Beautiful Bronze Mirror Buried With a 7-Foot-Long Sword

The Japanese penchant for wielding large curved swords goes back much further in time than previously thought, the new excavation of a 4th-century tomb revealed.
In the western city of Nara, a tomb inside a funerary mound uncovered a 7.5-foot-long sword and a large bronze mirror, which amount to first-of-their-kind-finds on the islands.
The tomb is thought to have belonged to a wealthy person in service of the region’s Yamato rulers, and the metalwork on the back of the mirror depicts mythical animals typical of western Japan.
Nara Prefecture’s Archaeological Institute at Kashihara classifies them as “national treasures” as both are “masterpieces,” and the two largest of such items ever uncovered from the Late Japanese Iron Age.
“(These discoveries) indicate that the technology of the Kofun period (300-710 AD) is beyond what had been imagined, and they are masterpieces in metalwork from that period,” said Kosaku Okabayashi, the deputy director of the Institute.

At 7.5 feet in length (2.3 meters) the “dako” sword is far larger than any previously found blades from the period which top out at 86 centimeters. Riku Murase, 32, told Kyodo news he and his colleagues thought it was several swords laid handle-to-tip at first, having never seen anything so large.
To archaeologists this indicates that in all likelihood the sword was a ceremonial tool, and not made for battle.

Mirrors and swords are supposed to have been tools to protect the dead in the 109-meter tomb against evil spirits.
“It was my dream to dig up a mirror. Who knew that it would be something so incredible,” said Murase.

If we die Daily
I think I read this somewhere once. And I have found it to be true if you die to God nightly and then you wake up a whole new person each new morning.
Some couples say: "Never go to bed angry as a couple!"
I think this is a good idea.
But, maybe it's more important to "Never go to bed angry at God" Too.
Sometimes it's hard to let go "And Let God".

This was an amazingly powerful experience for me
ROCK PEOPLE
"We are your bones
The water your blood
Your breath the sky.
I had come out of the Sweat Lodge (which is a native American representation of Mother Earth) and I had the spins from the heat which can reach up to 130 degrees Fahrenheit. I climbed out of the Sweat Lodge and went into the river nearby and laid out on the rocks to cool down from the sweat lodge when I had this experience. It was so powerful I cried in amazement.
I saw clearly how as humans (The rocks are our bones) our oneness with all rocks and dirt.
The water is our Blood of Life
Our breaths as humans fill all the sky
In other words when we breathe often it is breathed in by trees and plants and animals and infinite amount of times over millions of years. We breathe out Carbon dioxide and the Trees and plants give us Oxygen. They get what they need from us breathing and we get what we need from them breathing too.
We are the earth. We are of the earth. The water is of the earth and we are the water. We breathe out and this nourishes the trees and plants. Then they breathe out and it nourishes us with Their Oxygen.
It has always been this way and hopefully it will always be this way.

Fred's Version of Haiku
I have written before how the type of Haiku I do sometimes helped me survive my divorce in 1994 and I was still writing a lot in this form even in 1999 when I almost died of a heart virus then (Fall of 1998 to May of 1999).
Psychologically, I found in a crisis when you are trying to survive that crisis in your life writing your own Haiku shuts out all the "White Noise" and you can get down to basics of what is going to keep you alive and going in your life.
Here is one I just thought of that reminds me of that time
Children
If you aren't there
They won't survive
At that time I had a 4 or 5 years old daughter and a biological son about 20 years old in 1994 and two step children older than that. So, I had decided to fast until I died in Ventana Wilderness because of this divorce on water only. So, I lasted 4 days until God came to me and said, "You are not important. However, your daughter's future is in your hands because your wife is in distress because of this divorce."
So, I filed for divorce in order to protect my 5 year old daughter and now she is 33 and married to a European Lawyer and they are very happy.
It isn't just about you
It's about those you need to care for
Becoming adult I found started when i was 26 and I got married because my girlfriend got pregnant and I needed to support them. So, I dropped out of a College program where I was becoming a psychologist and got a full time job to support my wife and child.
This then was the best thing I ever did not only for my wife and son but also for myself. Why?
Because I never really was interested in caring for myself but I always wanted to be a father and be in my children's lives. This was always what I wanted. And for me, marriage allowed me to be with my children and to raise them. At the time I believed that all the happiness of childhood I could relive through my children because I always found adults pretty boring compared to happy children playing.
Becoming a father literally saved my young life and has ever since (caring for others who needed me).
Caring for yourself
Is necessary
if you want to be alive
to care for others
This was one of the most powerful lessens of young adulthood for me.
Life was not really about me at all it was about caring for others.
This was one of my first keys to full enlightenment.
So, be kind to yourselves so you can be kind to others to keep them alive and happy.
Here on the coast the winds are really blowing around the pine pollen and Acacia pollen
I had wanted to get into the hot tub outside when I got home but realized it wasn't a good idea because the winds had picked up and were scattering pine pollen everywhere. I began to notice this when someone that works for us was riding in a car with us and I had the window down and realized the pine pollen because of the wind was getting pretty bad. I'm not usually allergic to much of anything except Dust and mold but this year because of the storms the pollen of pine and Acacia are getting especially bad. Luckily, we have air purifiers one in our bedroom and one in the living room that we keep on especially this time of year which helps a lot 24 hours a day.

MY Favorite Meditation
I learned to do this while Soul Traveling during my life. At first I believed there was always a point A and a Point B and that I was going to travel from point A to point B as a soul Traveler. However, after about 10 years of this (my 20s) I realized that there really is no Point A or Point B because the universe is inside God's mind. So, it's all God's ideas (the Universe).
So, I wanted to be with God and so I realized for me the best way to do this was to encompass all Time and Space in the Universe.
You might not think this is possible because you are thinking in a finite or limited way.
However, God isn't limited at all and he (or she or it, the Being) Created all of us as his or her children or both like a Father Mother God.
Since I want to be with God I realized the easiest way to do this is to experience encompassing the whole Universe and all time and space all the time.
What is this like?
Pure Being and Compassion for myself and all beings in the universe in the past, present and Future.
For me, This is my definition of Enlightenment.
Of course it took many years to get to each point of realization where I could experience this 24 hours a day like I do now.
Also, it's a great meditation for an older person because this is where you want to be (everywhere and every when with God) when your physical body is gone and you are with God.

Storytelling: True or not is more of an Art than a Science
Before television and radio storytelling often meant you either got married or you didn't because a woman might not want to be married to someone who couldn't tell good stories about their life or others. Remember, unless you read books your entertainment came mostly from watching the butterflies to by, watching it snow or listening to what people said about their lives.
My Grandfather and my father were excellent story tellers by the way which is why I think I also am a storyteller too. I have never really thought of myself as a writer simply because I hate to edit my work so much. Each usually true story I tell is like I said more of an art than a science. Because people have to be interested in what you are saying or writing enough to want to listen or to read what you are saying or writing.
The present writing style that I use likely came from writing starting when my 16 year old cousin died in a car accident when I was 8 and I felt vulnerable all the way to telling true stories to friends and girlfriends and to my parents and everyone else in my family. I remember being 4 years old listening to stories my grandfather told to all of us which were really interesting. Then when we moved away from where my Grandfather and Grandmother lived in the Seattle Area to San Diego my father continued telling stories about his life. My father was also a very good story teller and valedictorian of his high school Class. So, he was always way ahead of everyone regarding anything new technologically. For example, he took one of the first 16mm Movie Cameras that took color film to Tahiti and the Tuomoto Archipeligo in 1939 along with his first wife and his brother when they all chartered a yacht to take them there. I still have converted movies of this that I converted first to VHS and later to DVD over the years. It's interesting to me that the DVD's are actually better than the original movies in 16mm in many ways. But, how many people have movies of Tahiti and that whole area of islands from 1939 still today?
So, I have literally color movies of Tahiti and that whole area still all these years later from the 2 years they spent down there in the Tahiti area all the way up to Honolulu in Hawaii before my father and his brother came home to go back to work and his wife worked for the Honolulu newspaper up until the invasion of Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941 when she decided to come home on a steamship to Seattle.
Writing: "You only really know something when you can teach it"
I tend to see writing like this. You are spending enough time doing something to really know what you are talking or writing about. So, one way to look at writing is that you are either teaching yourself something or you are both teaching yourself something and others too.
Writing for me is sort of like taking a walk through the beautiful redwood, pine and oak forests where I live or walking along the beautiful beach and rocky shoreline where I live near the ocean.
In other words when you are writing it is like hiking in that you take it one step at a time.
As you take each step it is leading you to something like a beautiful view of the ocean or beautiful trees for example.
However, often when I write something longer I have an idea of what I want to write about. It is either a past life memory or it's something else of a different nature that I want to write something longer about.
However, most of the stuff I write on a daily basis is relatively short and to the point fairly quickly. But, sometimes I get inspired to write much longer things.
However, just remember writing something longer is a commitment like you make to a girlfriend or something for a day, a weekend, or longer. So, unless you can commit the time and energy and feel good about it sometimes it better to do something else.
Because committing that much time to something you need to feel usually you have accomplished something worthwhile in your life for yourself or others or often both.
