Rep. Don Bacon: 'It’s possible' Mike Johnson could lose speakership over Ukraine

Speaking to NBC News' "Meet the Press" on Sunday, Bacon said he has a "commitment from the speaker and the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee" that a Ukraine aid bill will get a floor vote.

  • Rep. Don Bacon on Sunday warned that "it's possible" that Speaker Mike Johnson could face a vote to oust him if he moves to pass Ukraine aid in the House.

"I'm not going to deny it," Bacon, R-Neb., said when asked by moderator Kristen Welker on NBC News' "Meet the Press" whether it's possible Johnson could lose his speakership over Ukraine aid.

"We have one or two people that are not team players. They'd rather enjoy the limelight, the social media," Bacon added, though he did not name any members.

"It's a very narrow majority, and one or two people can make us a minority," he said.

Bacon favors some support for Ukraine and highlighted his partnership with Reps. Jared Golden, D-Maine, Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., and Ed Case, D-Hawaii, on a Ukraine aid bill.

"We put a bill together that focuses on military aid — a $66 billion bill that provides military aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan," Bacon told Welker, calling for a "bicameral, bipartisan solution."

"If we do this bill, and I think we will, there's enough support in the House to get this done. And I want to make sure that we have support in the Senate," Bacon said.

Bacon maintained that he hopes "the speaker prevails. He's doing the right thing."

He also suggested that Democrats could join several Republicans in helping save Johnson's speakership.

"I do think there will be Democrats, though, who do not want to see this dysfunction. And I think they'll probably vote present or maybe not be there for a vote," Bacon said.

Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., indicated earlier Sunday that there's a scenario in which Bacon could be correct.

"Would you protect [Johnson] if there was a move to oust him for bringing Ukraine aid to the floor?" Welker asked Clyburn earlier on "Meet the Press."

"I stand in support of our leader, [House Minority Leader] Hakeem Jeffries," Clyburn said, adding: "If he were to call me and say, 'Look, I would like to have your vote in support of Johnson,' he’s got it."

Bacon also indicated to Welker that Ukraine aid is likely to be brought up for a vote, saying he has a "commitment from the speaker and the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee that we’re going to put this on the floor and get a vote."

A vote on Ukraine aid in the House could pose a risk to Johnson’s speakership, given the division within the House Republican conference over the topic and the razor-thin majority the party holds.

Before the chamber left for a two-week recess ahead of Easter, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., submitted a motion to vacate, which could lead to a House vote to oust Johnson as speaker.

Greene did not file the motion as privileged, though, which would have forced the House to vote on the motion within 48 hours.

Shortly after she filed the motion, Greene warned, "He should not bring funding for Ukraine" to the floor.

Another contentious issue that's dividing House Republicans is the state of the ongoing House impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, which is being led by House Oversight Chair James Comer. Bacon suggested Sunday that the investigation may not have uncovered criminal wrongdoing.

"Right now, the lawyers in the committee that I talk to say there’s not a specific crime, and you need that for high crime or misdemeanor," Bacon said.

The statement seemingly conflicts with recent actions taken by Comer, who said in a fundraising email last week that he is "preparing criminal referrals as the culmination of my investigation."

In a statement, a spokesperson for the House Oversight Committee told NBC News, "The purpose of these updates is not to advise members on criminal laws. Committee staff provide members with updates on the transcribed interviews and evidence. We intend to issue a comprehensive report that will address criminal violations at the end of our investigation.”

Despite his statement about potential criminality, Bacon said Sunday that the allegations "merited an investigation."

"[Let’s] put the facts out, let the public look at it, make a determination. And I think it’s good to be transparent, especially — we’re in an election year," he added.

But asked by Welker whether it’s time to stop investigating the president if there is no evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors, Bacon said, "I don’t know if it’s time right now, but I do think we’re probably nearing the conclusion of this investigation."

The White House has denied wrongdoing by Biden and in December said House Republicans were continuing down a "path of failure" with their probe.

The highest altitude in Florida is 345 feet which isn't enough to stop an earthquake Tsunami coming from Europe or Canary Islands

    345 feet
At 345 feet above mean sea level, Britton Hill is Florida's highest natural point – and the lowest "high point" in the United States.

    end quote.

The problem is that any tsunami to hit Florida from Europe or say the Canary Islands could travel over all of Florida which would be a problem because Florida's highest altitude is only 345 feet in elevation.

So, of all of Florida's problems it's low altitude I consider to be the worst potentially for people who live there.

For example, Hawaii (all the Islands) have enough altitude that people could get to for maybe a 1000 foot high Tsunami to survive something like this but Florida does not.

When we got our home in 1999 near San Francisco 1 mile from the Ocean we made sure our altitude was actually between 200 to 500 feet in altitude because of Tsunamis or potential tsunamis.

Even though people who live with a view of the ocean often pay 1 million to 5 million dollars for those homes in California I believe it is much safer if you are going to live there full time and not just visit that house some times during the year to own a home above 200 to 300 feet in alltitude because of potential tsunamis.

All you have to do is to look at how 250,000 people died (mostly in Indonesia) in 2004 from an earthquake caused tsunami or the 20,000 to 30,000 people who died in Japan in 2011 I believe from an earthquake induced tsunami to think in the way I am now.

However, it is true that when these things come (IF you are listening to radio or TV Weather) you might survive something like this even if your home does not.

But, that is small comfort to the people Not listening to radio or TV news when the Tsunami actually hits either.

In the Future it might be more feasible to land in lakes and oceans than to land at airports because of increasing wind shear

I was writing in a previous article about how the winds and wind shears are increasing exponentially all over the world. People are often getting injured on planes now because they are not wearing seat belts when these wind shears hit. It's mostly people up going to the bathroom and Stewards who are injured in these events.

Wearing a seat belt any time you are below 10,000 feet especially is important because the worst wind shears are usually below 10,000 feet in altitude. Why is this?

It's because the air is thicker at lower altitudes so when it buffets a plane it REALLY Buffets a plane in extreme ways.

However, you can get the same effect at higher altitudes from Storms as well even with thinner air which tends to cushion a plane more. It's one of the reasons why planes fly at 40,000 feet so much. When you are traveling between 400 and 500 miles per hour it keeps the wings from ripping off and the plane crashing. You notice how planes slow down somewhat in their landing patterns to reduce the buffeting of the winds also. The slower you are moving forward (Usually) the less wind shear tends to be a problem.

So, because of all this as wind shears get worse and worse caused mainly by global Warming and global Climate changes you will hear more and more about people being injured on planes who aren't wearing seat belts.

Can you be injured while wearing a seat belt?

Yes. But, it would have to be extreme like during explosive decompression like then the window hatch blew out in a plane over Oregon. Or the wind shear would have to be bad enough to rip off one of the control surfaces on the wings or tail of the plane but if a control surface was torn off it is most likely that the plane might crash eventually because of losing a control surface or it could just land badly but everyone might survive.

So, the point is eventually I foresee airports not working for planes at all because of all the changes coming up regarding winds around the world.

So, the best bet might be to take off straight up from the ground like a rocket ship and go maybe to 100,000 feet or 200,000 feet or more in altitude and when you came back somewhere on earth you would deploy a parachute and then land in water somewhere like in a lake or in the ocean next to land or an island.

This likely is the future of planes on earth and traveling long distances because of ever increasing wind shear around the world from storms and other causes.

They came for Florida’s sun and sand. They got soaring costs and a culture war.

    The Winds

I often write about how it is the winds more than anything that the human race isn't prepared for in this century and the centuries to come.

When I look into the future I see (unfortunately) a future in which flying in planes might no longer be practical. However, strangely enough rocketing straight out into space and then returning to earth like a space ship on some other portion of the planet might be feasible.

However, landing at airports might not be feasible because of the changes in the winds and increasing wind shear.

Especially place like the Hawaiian Islands there is a lot of wind shear landing especially at Kahului, Maui and at Lihue, Kauai with Kahului the most consistently difficult because of wind shear. The reason for this is likely the trade winds in combination with Haleakala because it is 10,000 feet high.

It's the same kind of problem when flying too close to Mt. Shasta. Many people in the past died on Mt. Shasta before people realized that Hang gliding down Mt. Shasta was often fatal because of the way the winds interact with Mt. Shasta.

For example, when I climbed Mt. Shasta in 1970 when I reached the summit the last 2000 feet in altitude the winds were gusting up to 100 mph. However, luckily it wasn't picking up the snow or ice and cutting my face that day so I was okay.

Another time I was climbing San Gorgonio Mountain which is near Palm Springs and Big Bear and it is around 11,000 plus feet tall. However, since I was climbing it in November or December of likely 1969 there was ice blowing on the summit and it was cutting my face because the winds were blowing in gusts over 100 mph. So, luckily I had a sheet of greenhouse plastic and wrapped it around my face so the ice wouldn't cut my face anymore. Finally, I gave up and used the plastic to slide down the face there back towards Big Bear and out to my car about 10 miles away then.

The point I'm trying to make here is that Wind shear is going to get worse and worse over time as the weather changes and becomes less and less predictable over the next several hundred years time.

So, winds that blow down trees and take away plants that people eat will likely be the hardest thing for people to get used to along with rising oceans that wash away coastal towns around the world.

I expect many more 300 to 500 mph winds during this century. Not every day but even one day of 300 to 500 mile per hour winds is going to blow down most all trees and take away the leaves of everything farmer's grow on the surface of the earth.

So, eventually the farmers likely will have to farm either underground or in especially reinforced Green houses to protect their plants and veggies from the ever increasing winds.

This is what I see coming for the earth not every day but even one day like this a year blows down all or most trees and all leaves off of plants people grow to eat too. This is what is coming this century or the next. I'm not sure the speed of these changes but they are coming nonetheless.

    Developing your intuition

I have a friend who believes in 40 day water fasts and he is already 81 years old. However, most people likely don't have the right metabolism or life circumstances for this to work.

However, when I moved to Mt. Shasta from San Diego in 1976 with my family I found a place that I could heal myself and develop my intuition and move forward in my life.

Many people try to "Fit INTO the world".

I think I learned early on that I would have to Create my own world to live in.

It was pretty obvious to me how people were being literally driven insane by living in big cities and the slavery of many careers. So, I realized early on this type of life wasn't going to work for me.

I was lucky when I was young to realize that I was going to have to do something different than most other people with my life. So, I tried many different things to see what would work for me.

I realized that like my father I tended to be more practical and intelligent than most people I met. Another thing that actually helped me a lot was to almost die from Whooping cough and later from a concussion with night time seizures between the ages of 10 and 15 years of age.

Most people would see these things as negatives in their lives but for me it made me more serious than most of my peers and a lot less silly in my life especially between the ages of 2 and 20 years of age. However, I also had to become more childlike to survive my life too so I found this type of healing by going to college a lot between 18 and 25 years of age. Doing this allowed me to see deeper than many people seem to in their lives.

It allowed me to learn to engineer my life better than most people seem to. It allowed me to be actually happy by the time I was 32 years of age and I found I was pretty happy being a married father until my own father died when I was 37 years old. Then it was a struggle for me to live to be 50 taking care of myself and my family.

However, when I almost died myself at age 50 everything changed for me. No longer was I in a state of Middle Aged Crazy where the ground was coming up at me pretty fast towards death.

I began to be grateful for every moment I had left with my family and my friends and I have stayed like that ever since. I'm grateful for my wife every day and I'm grateful for my children and grandchildren too and often tell them how happy I am that they are all in my life.

Gratitude, after all is: "The Motor of Life".

The other saying I find helpful is:

    "Hope Springs Eternal

    If we die daily"

By being grateful for every moment you have left in your life you no longer worry really about dying because that isn't what's important. What's really important is every moment you have left with your family and friends here on earth.

    Asteroid Facts from NASA

  • Asteroids: Facts

Asteroids, sometimes called minor planets, are rocky remnants left over from the early formation of our solar system about 4.6 billion years ago.

The current known asteroid count is:

Most of this ancient space rubble can be found orbiting our Sun between Mars and Jupiter within the main asteroid belt. Asteroids range in size from Vesta – the largest at about 329 miles (530 kilometers) in diameter – to bodies that are less than 33 feet (10 meters) across. The total mass of all the asteroids combined is less than that of Earth's Moon.

Most asteroids are irregularly shaped, though a few are nearly spherical, and they are often pitted or cratered. As they revolve around the Sun in elliptical orbits, the asteroids also rotate, sometimes quite erratically, tumbling as they go. More than 150 asteroids are known to have a small companion moon (some have two moons). There are also binary (double) asteroids, in which two rocky bodies of roughly equal size orbit each other, as well as triple asteroid systems.

    Composition

The three broad composition classes of asteroids are C-, S-, and M-types.

    • The C-type (chondrite) asteroids are most common. They probably consist of clay and silicate rocks, and are dark in appearance. They are among the most ancient objects in the solar system.
    • The S-types ("stony") are made up of silicate materials and nickel-iron.
    • The M-types are metallic (nickel-iron). The asteroids' compositional differences are related to how far from the Sun they formed. Some experienced high temperatures after they formed and partly melted, with iron sinking to the center and forcing basaltic (volcanic) lava to the surface.

The orbits of asteroids can be changed by Jupiter's massive gravity – and by occasional close encounters with Mars or other objects. These encounters can knock asteroids out of the main belt, and hurl them into space in all directions across the orbits of the other planets. Stray asteroids and asteroid fragments have slammed into Earth and the other planets in the past, playing a major role in altering the geological history of the planets and in the evolution of life on Earth.

Scientists continuously monitor Earth-crossing asteroids, whose paths intersect Earth's orbit, and near-Earth asteroids that approach Earth's orbital distance to within about 28 million miles (45 million kilometers) and may pose an impact danger. Radar is a valuable tool in detecting and monitoring potential impact hazards. By reflecting transmitted signals off objects, images and other information can be derived from the echoes. Scientists can learn a great deal about an asteroid's orbit, rotation, size, shape, and metal concentration.

    Asteroid Classifications

Main Asteroid Belt: The majority of known asteroids orbit within the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, generally with not very elongated orbits. The belt is estimated to contain between 1.1 and 1.9 million asteroids larger than 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) in diameter, and millions of smaller ones. Early in the history of the solar system, the gravity of newly formed Jupiter brought an end to the formation of planetary bodies in this region and caused the small bodies to collide with one another, fragmenting them into the asteroids we observe today.

Trojans: These asteroids share an orbit with a larger planet, but do not collide with it because they gather around two special places in the orbit (called the L4 and L5 Lagrangian points). There, the gravitational pull from the Sun and the planet are balanced by a trojan's tendency to otherwise fly out of orbit. The Jupiter trojans form the most significant population of trojan asteroids. It is thought that they are as numerous as the asteroids in the asteroid belt. There are Mars and Neptune trojans, and NASA announced the discovery of an Earth trojan in 2011.

Near-Earth Asteroids: These objects have orbits that pass close by that of Earth. Asteroids that actually cross Earth's orbital path are known as Earth-crossers.

    How Asteroids Get Their Names

The International Astronomical Union's Committee on Small Body Nomenclature is not very strict when it comes to naming asteroids. As a result, out there orbiting the Sun we have a giant space rock named for Mr. Spock – a cat named for the character of "Star Trek" fame. There's also a space rock named for the late rock musician Frank Zappa. There are more somber tributes, too, such as the seven asteroids named for the crew of the Space Shuttle Columbia killed in 2003.

Asteroids are also named for places and a variety of other things. (The IAU discourages naming asteroids for pets, so Mr. Spock stands alone).

Asteroids are also given a number, for example (99942) Apophis. The Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics keeps a fairly current list of asteroid names

    Writing

I try to stay in practice writing by writing a little every day here at this blog. It's an exercise in communication using typing on a keyboard. Some writers prefer to write long hand. I used to do this but I found the volume of information is much less and not necessarily of a higher quality if I write by hand. I find I'm more satisfied as a writer if I type because I can type as fast or faster than I talk. So, it's more like talking to all of you more than it is typing in my experience. I took my first typing class by taking a typing class in Summer School I believe at Wilson Junior High sometime around 1960 when I was starting out in Junior High School. It likely would have been between that summer between 7th and 8th Grade. The first big term paper I typed on a typewriter likely was 1963 even though many shorter papers I did on typewriters. However, trying to be accurate without making mistakes typing I found difficult and I didn't like using the Tape Erase liquid paper stuff to correct my typing mistakes.

So, when home computers were first invented and I bought my first TRS-80 from Radio Shack in 1978 for around 800 dollars I first noticed that I could type and if I made mistakes I could easily repair those mistakes without printing it out on paper until it was relatively perfect. This allowed me to type 60 to 80 words a minute because I no longer had to worry at all about errors of one kind or another.

The biggest thing I notice now is that I will write something while I'm sincere and honest about one subject or another. But then I get it really strong that people might misinterpret what I'm saying and often when I experience this I will delete what I'm saying because it creates a better outcome for everyone when I do this.

Writing for me is mostly about healing. Healing myself and anyone reading what I'm writing. So, this is my interest in helping heal myself and as many people as possible. I figure this way it is less likely that the planet will nuke out one day and be gone.

I can see the planet going on thousands to millions of years on into the future. I can see many timelines here on earth allowing this to happen. I can see people correcting timelines when nukes go off retroactively and taking out of the timelines before they were born the people who cause those nukes to go off.

This is what it is like for me to be a precognitive psychic in some ways.
