One of the many things I have discovered in this lifetime is how long our souls live. There really is no limit time wise. Mostly it appears that souls only die of boredom. And one of the ways to renew a soul is to experience mortality. So, that is mostly why we do it, to lengthen our lives as souls.
So, many of us choose to forget who we really are to value life by having mortality or death looking over our shoulders. In this way we learn to value life again and not be so bored.
Souls are sort of like Gods in the sense of Immortality. So by experiencing mortality we value being Gods once again.
Imagine if you did not have to breathe air or eat food or be born or do anything that a human does. You would just be soul which is beyond time and space but can also live in time and space when the soul chooses to in the form of a human or other body.
This gives a new perspective to what you are doing here doesn't it? You are here like a university student learning something new or perfecting things you learned in other lifetimes as a human or other type of incarnation.
So, we are all choosing to be here to learn something and then we will do other things along the way as souls.
