1986 February in the Terai of Nepal at Royal Chitwan National Park in the river there

We had ridden these elephants earlier likely that day. We had been traveling since December 11th 1985 though Japan, Thailand, Nepal and India. A friend had flown over who was playing music in Switzerland through Pakistan and met us in Kathmandu. My friend and my family hopped on a bus to Royal Chitwan national park on the Terai then. At night there was a comet visible in the sky and during the day we rode elephant through jungles with Tigers and Rhinos nearby. On the back of an Indian elephant you are safe from Tigers and Rhinos. To us personally only the rhinos tried to kill us when we ran up trees away from them. We were told many tourists want a picture of the Rhinos so badly that they are killed by the Rhinos. If you are attacked by a Rhino first the split you up the middle with their horn and then they flatten your chest level with the ground. The elephants are much nicer and let you ride them with Saddles on them with handlers riding on their necks. The elephants were well fed and cared for and they loved their baths in the river there daily. The baths kept them healthy and washed off anything bothering them like ticks or other things like that. Elephants are very smart almost like people and mostly they are calm unless something spooks them. They are much calmer and more intelligent that most horses too. And they have great memories sort of like people.
