Ghandi and Tibet

Ghandi and Tibet. When Ghandi shamed England into giving he and the Indian people India, England was human rights conscious enough to let that happen eventually. However, in China, even though it is a many thousands of year old civilization, it has presently come too far too fast to likely allow Tibet the same freedom that England allowed India after World War II. Though there are about 300 million Chinese in China that are educated and sophisticated like those in Europe and the United States, there are still too many uneducated and unsophisticated Chinese for China to allow Tibet to be free. One amazing fact that I learned the last 10 years is that there are more people in China learning English than now speak it in the rest of the world. This alone should be a sobering fact for all the rest of us English speakers worldwide.

The closest to Ghandi in Asia at this time IS the Dalai Lama and China is terribly threatened by the FACT that the Dalai Lama is considered by the world to be the closest to Ghandi in both thoughts and actions. In fact, only he and Mandela are presently in this class of living Saints on earth. Even ex-President Bill Clinton has been moved to action in Africa by Mandela by helping organize Aid programs for Africans by Mandela as a personal hero.

Likewise, people all over the world are inspired by the ideas of the Dalai Lama who has lost so much to the Chinese since Mao but who still is a "Ghandi" like figure who believes in non-violence even after all the tortures and deaths and brainwashing of Tibetans the last 2 centuries and more by the Chinese.

Mainly because of those in China who aren't the 300 million educated and successful Chinese in China it is unlikely that China can release Tibet like the English released India without complete collapse of the Chinese government. I'm sure there are many many of those 300 million and others who would want to release Tibet to Tibetans if they were only told the full truth about what has happened to Tibet and Tibetans during the last 2 centuries. However, likely they will never know and this is what is really insidious about propaganda. Chinese media control and propaganda will only bring about the extinction of all Tibetans in Tibet!
