Iraq? Why Iraq? Sometimes I think the US is making a lot of the same mistakes the British Colonial Empire made in the early 20th century. The best word would be "overreaching" another couple of good words would be "economic suicide as a nation".
Another good set of words would be "a complete disconnect from reality".
There is what is possible and there is what is impossible. I don't think doing something that is impossible and bankrupting our nation makes any sense at all.
Yes. I know. Saddam Hussein pissed off the world. But Iran pissed us off even more. Iran kidnapped all our American Embassay staff in Tehran and held them hostage for almost 2 years.Yes. Saddam took Kuwait but only after the American Ambassador to Iraq said we wouldn't do anything if he did. After all, Saddam Hussein fought a bloody bloody war against Iran in proxy for us against Iran for about 8 years during the 1980s which the US financed on both sides until both nations dropped from exhaustion and bloodletting. The US and Europe made sure neither side won that war. No wonder Iraqis and Iranians hate us so.
Now the US and NATO are trapped in long term unwinable wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan. They are unwinable long term because they break the rule: "No nation can win a long term war that does not have the popular support of the people". And the US does not have the popular support of the Iraqis or the US Electorate and never will have either. So, basically it is already a lost cause and every logical person knows it.
The only question now is:"Will the United States face complete bankruptcy before or after we withdraw from Iraq?"
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
