Assad and his Army have lost most of the countryside already. Richard Engle reports as he went into Syria from Turkey with the Rebel Army. He said most of the countryside except for the biggest cities and big Army bases is under Rebel Control. Assad's soldiers are begging the rebel army to attack them so they can run away so their officers don't shoot them. Soldiers who can find a way away from the Syrian Army then sell their weapons to the Rebel Army or join the Rebel Army themselves. This is the reality throughout the countryside of Syria. So, Assad has already lost all but the biggest Cities and the army bases already. Desertions abound throughout the Syrian Army and all 80,000 new concripts expected have not showed up to be trained to reinforce the Syrian Army. So, basically, though Assad still has formidable weapons he is slowly losing his army through desertion from both high and low rank soldiers so soon there will not be enough army to fight to hold the cities or Army bases.
If you start the video at the following site about 2:30 minutes in you can go right to Richard Engle's experiences and telling his story of what he has just seen in Syria directly.
