When I left San Francisco in the Afternoon I arrived about 6 pm the next day because South Korea is 16 hours forward in time all the time from San Francisco. I stayed up San Francisco time until about 4:30 am to 5:30 am which is about 8 or 9 pm South Korea time the next day. So, I discovered several years ago in Paris if I force myself to sleep between 12 and 15 hours I can usually conquer the worst effects of jet lag traveling in a new country in a different time zone.
While I have been here I have been going to bed on average around 4:30 to 6:30 am in my San Francisco time zone and getting up here between about noon to 2 pm in my home time zone. So, here is it between 8 pm and 10:30 when I go to bed. The problem with this is I almost always wake up by 4 to 6 am South Korean Time which is like I said noon to 2 pm San Francisco time when I tend to wake up here in South Korea because my body just isn't used to sleeping in the afternoon especially between the hours of about noon and 6 pm San Francisco time.
When I return home to San Francisco (since I don't have a 9 to 5 job because I'm mostly retired) I likely will not force my body to do something different much so I will slowly allow my body to recover to it's original sleep cycle as it naturally reverts to San Francisco sleep cycles.
However, if have to return to work you might have to figure something out. One way would be to only travel on weekends so when you return home you can sleep 12 to 15 hours to more easily return to a normal sleep cycle almost immedicately. You likely are going to feel a little weird and shaky at times but if you cut the edge off of Jet lag by sleeping 12 to 15 hours on either end of your trip it can keep you from getting ill from the effects of jet lag wherever you travel over the earth.
However, it might be important to note that usually traveling East is more difficult than traveling west because the changes tend to be more extreme on the bodies rhythm's.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
