28 quotes from You Can't Go Home Again: 'Make your mistakes, take your chances, look silly, but keep on going. Don't freeze up.'
  • You can't go home again simply means that after times you spend in another country you are often permanently changed by that. Either you become paranoid from the changes and retreat into a Fundamentalist kind of attitude in paranoia of your new experience, Or you become cosmopolotian and incorporate the parts of the new experience into your world view while keeping the best parts of your home reality, or you completely give up your home reality and completely adopt the views and culture  of the new place you visit forever and often move and live there the rest of your life.
  • Obviously, the healthiest thing to do is to become cosmopolitan, but about 30% of world travelers fall into the cosmopolitan category and if you divide equally the other two categories tend to claim the two 35% pieces of humanity that travel the world.
  • So, if you are psychologically healthy and you travel the world you become cosmopolitan in your reaction to all the places you go to where you feel sometimes equally at home in the world you grew up in as in all the places you visit.
  • This is the reaction I have mostly had with world travel in becoming more cosmopolitan with every new place I visit during my life.
  • There are things we like about our native countries and things we like about where we visit and things we don't like about both, and so we take all the things we like about our home countries and the places we visit and often let go of whatever we can that we don't like of both along the way. Cosmopolitian is the best reaction to one's home country and the world. And should be a goal of all world travelers which tends to make one a Citizen of the world, Citizen of the Galaxy and Citizen of the Universe which is the most healthy place to be in attitude and consciousness ongoing.
