If you click on this to enlarge it you can see the string of islands it created in a line going north west

So, if you start with the big Island of Hawaii and trace north and west as the line first to the north west and then a litttle more due north you can see all the islands above and below the ocean that the Hawaii Hotspot has created so far as the Pacific Plate? I believe has moved northwards and westwards over the years.

A diagram illustrates the hotspot area of the crust in cross-section and states that the motion of the overtopping Pacific Plate in the lithosphere expands the plume head in the asthenosphere by dragging it.
