what it looks like to me after growing up in the 1950s

I was born a couple of years before 1950 so I have seen things that would completely blow your mind during the last now (almost 70 years) I have been alive. What it looked like me along the way was people were dying in the 1950s and 1960s who were different in any way whether that is Gay (Then we called most people like this just Weak) and often they were killed or beat up or their heads were put in toilets and then the toilets were flushed and then they were taken out and put into  aluminum trash bins and then rolled down a hill with them screaming and getting bloody inside.

Because I was big for my age people of my age never did this for me because I could hit harder back than they could hit me. But, I witnessed this on many occasions and often tried to stop it sometimes successfully and sometimes unsuccessfully. And I grew up in schools not integrated but some with hispanics attending. So, often it was much worse in public schools than what I saw where people often died or committed suicide in various ways from these ongoing daily experiences.

So, my perspective as a 15 to 20 year old was basically. "Hey! people who are gay or black shouldn't be killed!" This was what I thought then. And for then this was very very progressive. Because this wasn't what the average person thought then.

And you even had to be sort of careful of voicing this opinion if you didn't want to be knifed or hit with a club or shot then too.

This is just how different it was then. However, one needs to go back to the turn of the century 1900s and before when just being IRish or Scottish or Italian or even hispanic when being any of these one could also be killed or beat up from and they were discriminated against regarding jobs too. If you were anything but English or ancient American from England you could die up until the 1930s and 1940s.

So, there has been a very slow progression of evolution regarding rights all this way.

However, now there is a war between political correctness and free expression of one's view. And if political correctness wins our democracy will end. This is a given at this point.

Because without Free Expression of one's view everything good about our country ends.

This is what young educated people don't realize. They don't get how unrealistic political correctness really is long term.

And this is how Putin and Trump together likely will end the American democracy because idealistic political correctness advocates can't see this.
