I can remember about 10 years ago I was out in 117 degrees in Palm Springs because my son lived there and I was visiting. Stepping outside into 117 degrees is sort of like stepping into an oven. You want to be in the shade first of all because the air is like an oven and the sun on top of that is just too much. 10 years ago I would have been 60. Today I was walking around in 100 degrees buying gas.

There is a really big big difference in 100 degrees and 117 degrees. When you go out in 100 degrees you are okay for awhile. When you go outside in 117 degrees you know you are not okay immediately. And 120 degrees like I spent 24 to 36 hours in in my 20s you know you are really not okay for the 24 to 36hours I spent doing mining work without air conditioning when I was 25 too. But, I was much younger then. Now, I go into 117 degrees usually just to buy gas or to go into a restaurant from car air conditioning to restaurant air conditioning. I know enough at 70 not to "run around in 117 to 120 degrees at this point in my life. Because doing that at this age one might not survive much of that unless you adapted to living in those conditions all the time somehow like one can adapt to different altitudes at almost any age within a few days time.

Even though a friend of mine in her 70s went to Lhasa by plane and died within 15 minutes of when the plane landed from not enough oxygen to breathe at 12,000 feet.
