Mountain Lion in Santa Barbara?

We were unloading groceries from Von's up on top of one of the hills around Santa Barbara at night. I heard a sound and thought it was a raccoon warning us he was nearby not to mess with him, likely a male I thought at first. So, I went in because we were unloaded now from the driveway and locked the door so the raccoon and his friends wouldn't follow us into the house after the food if the raccoon was a cheeky male. But, as I walked to the rear of inside of the house I thought about it more and realized it wasn't a raccoon it was a mountain lion which made my wife nervous. I thought it through more and realized raccoons chitter in nervousness when in a tree but Mountain lions love to jump down on things from big oak trees like the one outside of this house which is huge and amazing. They sleep on the long limbs and as long as it's night nothing likely will see them there but then they would likely start hunting for food at first light. So, I have no problem with a mountain lion sleeping there as long as he or she doesn't become a problem in the future day or night, especially because he or she is likely going to be gone by first light out hunting rabbits and cats and smaller dogs and animals locally.

One of the amazing stories which took place deep in Carmel Valley was that a mountain lion got a 125 pound German Shepard and jumped over a 7 foot fence with the 125 pound German Shepard in his mouth. One problem, the German Shepard was on a chain and had a dog house so the German Shepard 125 pound dog strangled on the fence and the cat ran away without his meal. So, Mountain lions should never be underestimated and they live all over California especially in the country and suburbia and especially like the big old oak trees to hunt from and to sleep in at night.

So, it was the sound it made that made me realize it had to be a big cat like a mountain lion because if you take a sound like this that pet cats make and drop the sound to a way lower register the way a mountain lion sounds it was sort of like, "Aren't you done yet?" and "Leave me alone." Which is a kind of sound a cat can make too in a much higher sound register.
