I think they "cartoonify" it so it freaks people out less to deal with time travel the way they depict it in this show. it's on Amazon Prime by the way as a series and has 2 seasons so far.
I deal with aspects of time travel which I stumbled upon in various ways during my life.
I think I'm more prepared for actual time travel and meeting aliens and other things like this both from what happened to me growing up but also the religion my parents raised me in too.
People who have lived in the same place with the same people since they were born are not likely the people to deal with time travel or aliens very easily. However, there are ALWAYS exceptions to this rule.
The thing is the aliens who come to earth almost all travel time or bend time to get here in the first place because it takes time to travel long distances in space often so by bending time in various ways one's experience "CAN BE" instantaneous travel from their home area if people understand how to bend time and space.
It's true galactic travel for most species is also about bending time and space a lot. However, it is also possible to go to different times on planet earth as well and many people do this both from our planet and from other places.
Accepting this is true could actually save your life many times like it has mine.
