I thought this is a great quote from this series  and where a whole lot of people are actually sort of like Royal.

When I was 10 to 15 years old often I sort of thought like Royal too until I realized I likely was going to die from Blunt Trauma concussion seizures I was then having. Only then I had no idea at all the cause of them then because it was the 1950s (1958) when they started when I was 10 at night. So, by the time I was 14 I realized through extreme trauma that likely unless I made friends with God I was going to die. So, I prayed hard and asked God to live in my body with me so I didn't have to die young. So, God stopped my night time seizures and stayed living in my body ever since.

However, I still can feel the terror I felt then knowing I was going to die and God was the ONLY one who could fix me and I was going to die unless I made friends with God right then. So I did and he took away my concussion seizures ever after and stayed living in my body ever since.
