Aging

 Aging

is

giving up

the things you love

one by One

Many people I know want to act like they are 25 at 45 or 50.

The main problem with this is often this kills people (or severely shortens their lives).

People who successfully age and live the longest learn this trick of long term survival.

If you don't start adapting to aging fast enough it kills you (or maims you).

For example, I tried to do a rock climb that I was fine doing in my 20s when I was 37 years old.

This was a mistake. Why?

Because when I climbed the cliff at the ocean I was 37 and not in my 20s so when I made a move that would have been fine in my 20s but not at 37 it ripped the muscles off the back of my knee to my calf and I fell off 20 or 30 feet into the water from this climb into cold ocean water of likely around 59 degrees.

My family was down the beach looking at the carcass of a pilot whale or something big like this down the beach that had beached itself before it died. So, while I was basically drowning because my right leg didn't work anymore from the injury and I was sort of drowning in the 4 to 5 foot waves trying to swim to shore in really cold water they were watching the dead whale carcass.

So, when they saw me fully clothed coming out of the water having made it to shore they came to help me realizing something was wrong. My leg has never been quite right ever since even though I healed the muscles they aren't exactly right anymore because they healed in a new place. But, at least I can still walk ever since then once it all healed good enough again.

The point I'm trying to make is either you adapt to every stage of aging you reach or you die or are maimed.

This is the reality of life.

The alternative is death at an earlier age than you might want.

So, when I see people 40 or 50 trying to act like they are 25 still I wonder if they will adapt soon enough or whether they will die or be maimed by their actions not fitting their correct biological age.

Note: at the time of this we owned two businesses but didn't have health insurance (at least for my wife and I so I couldn't afford to have my right calf muscles re-attached without medical insurance. Around this time I also was skiing and pulled my left hamstring with the same kind of result. I was able to heal them both myself but one physical therapist said I had 1800s kinds of injuries to both legs. In other words before medical technology evolved to where it is now people had all kinds of injuries like this because there wasn't medical help available. And even now, only the richest of people can afford to get these kinds of things fixed in most of the world.

However, I have had full medical coverage since I was 45 or 46 or else I would already be dead likely by 50 from the heart virus that almost killed me for 9 months time and forced me to retire then.

So, God was good to me in that he forced me to slow down soon enough so I'm still alive now at 74 almost 75 years of age.

So, in the meantime I watch many people die from their late 20s to their 30s or 40s or 50s because they don't learn early enough what they have to do to survive long term in their lives to 70 or more.

Also, I have found it is really tough to keep on surviving past 70 no matter who you are. Unless you are really disciplined in how you deal with your diet and exercise and taking care of your health by 70 you are not going to see 80 or 90 or 100 or beyond.

Words of Wisdom for longevity.
